WELLCABIN TENJIN

Booked Wellcabin on a whim. It's near the Tenjin-Minami exit of the Nanakuma Line, tucked away down a small alley (see attached photo, enter the alley next to Yang Guo Fu) and then a 2-minute walk along the river after turning right. It was a bit hard to find at first, but the location is super convenient, right next to the El Gala shopping mall and close to the city center, Tenjin. Check-in required a 200 yen tax. I booked a semi-private cabin on the first floor, room 96, which was almost at the very end and the quietest. All the facilities are quite new, nothing like a typical budget hotel. It was very quiet at night, and the free WiFi was fast and smooth. There are three private showers and two washrooms. The second floor has a smoking area and a laptop/work area, while the third floor is a large dormitory-style room with dozens of people in one hall. If I had to nitpick, the mattress was a bit firm, and there was only one pillow which was a bit flat. Many people started getting up between 6:30 and 7:00 AM. Check-out is at 11:00 AM. But for 160 yen per night, I have no complaints whatsoever; the value for money is exceptional. Perfect for solo male travelers on a budget.

The location is convenient, close to the subway exit and the underground pedestrian street. I stayed in a semi-private capsule on the 2nd floor, which is definitely much better than the open-plan room on the 3rd floor. I stayed for 4 days, and the room was never cleaned, nor were the sheets and duvet cover changed (during the plum rain season, they should provide a fresh set for stays over three days, I could even change them myself). No other complaints.
