Madeira Panorâmico Hotel

For a four-star hotel, the pillows is too bad, uncomfortable, maybe because it's the cheapest room? The toilet flushing noise is kinda loud, but it's quiet room after all. No electric kettle in the room, 2 euros for 1L mineral water. Nothing else to complain about. Clean and tidy, staff are friendly and professional, good service.

One of the main reason why I booked this 4 star hotel was that it said it had a large space gym area as mentioned before booking, so I assumed it being a 4 start Hotel it will have decent weights and machines. However, when I arrived, the gym didn’t have a pull-up bar or a cable machine, the dumbbell weights were very basic that went up to only 10 kg. That is absolutely disappointing considering this was a 4 start Hotel. To be honest the multiuse cable machine is pretty much all you need as it has everything to be exercise all your body parts! I love my pullups hence I had to find a way to do them so I found a metal gate just outside the gym in the tennis court believe it or not I used the gate frame to do my pullups (see picture). Another downfall is that it didn’t have a water fountain in the gym area. You had to go up to the reception and buy bottle of water for €2. Good luck to those who suffer from quick dehydration. I expected the room to have a kettle which you wouldn’t think twice whether it will have it or not. But guess what? You have to pay extra to have a kettle in your room during your stay between €5 to €7. That’s just jokes, I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry! Other than that, the staff were very friendly and the location is close to the sea, and approximately 11 minutes drive to the main city area in Funchal. I’d say the breakfast is good, but the same time pretty standard what you would get in a 3 star hotel. I was expecting better variety. The breakfast is always the same every day. Hardly never changes. However, the dinner menu has a rotation. Overall, I would give this place 3.5 out of 5! I hope they can accommodate the above the next time I visit. 

Fantastic hotel in great location. This was a great choice for us - smallish hotel with stunning views from the dining terraced area across Funchal and out to the coastline. The staff were friendly, cheerful and very helpful. The hotel was very clean. And the food was good quality - we booked bed and breakfast as we normally do, but if I had known how good the hotel buffet was going to be I’d have booked half board. Maybe past experience has given me low expectations of hotel buffets. The pool area was relatively small but enough for the number of guests using it and they had a system of guests being provided with a towel for the pool area which they could exchange for a clean one from the pool bar in the morning. A free shuttle bus was available to take people into the city if pre-booked the day before. Only minor negatives (but still giving it 5 stars): we were a bit put out that we had to wait an hour for our rooms to be ready after being up at 3am for our early morning flight. We were encouraged to sit by the pool when we were wearing the clothes we’d spend a day travelling in (so remained indoors to wait). Some aspects of the rooms appeared a little tired and dated but everything still in working order. The hotel is up a hill and a 40 minute walk from the city centre, so would not recommend it as somewhere to stay for anyone with mobility issues if they didn’t want to rely on the shuttle bus.

We stayed in two separate family rooms with a sea view. The hotel was fantastic. The staff were polite and helpful and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The location is a bit out of the main tourist areas and the nearest shop is a decent walk away, however the hotel offers a shuttle bus regularly into the centre which is a great idea. This needs to be booked in advance. The view from our room was amazing and even better at night when you can see all the lights on the hillside. The only negative was the room decor, I would say they need a refresh especially the bathroom however they are spotlessly clean and the maid service is great. The best part of the hotel is the buffet service at breakfast and dinner. The variety is really good and they change the menu every day for dinner. The restaurant staff work really hard and ensure that the tables are kept clean and tidy. A special mention to Sonia who was so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The omelettes at breakfast are brilliant! The evening entertainment was good and offered different musical styles to suit all tastes. The pool is lovely although a bit small, we never struggled to get a sun bed and the atmosphere was great. The food at the pool bar is good and the drinks are reasonably priced. We also used the squash courts a few times which was a nice change of pace. We would have no hesitation in coming back to this great hotel. Thanks for a great holiday.

Great hotel possibly a little dated but that's the only negative. Lovely and clean, nice breakfast great facilities and friendly staff. Had a lovely view from the balcony. Free bus service was great. Lots of restaurants nearby and a nice sandy beach about 4km walk through the tunnel. Hope we get to stay again. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

After staying in a very disappointing 5-star hotel in Malta, I found this hotel to be so much better. I felt relaxed at all times and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was big enough to have lots of facilities but not too big. Our room had a great view over Funchal and a nice wee, private balcony to sit in. Eating breakfast outside every morning was lovely. Many people say it is too far from the main town but we walked up and down every day. Yes, it is up hill on the way home but if you are fairly fit, it is not a long walk.

What a lovely hotel. Staff were so accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful. Pool was lovely and the pool bar relaxing. It was a great spot to be out of the way of the busy town centre and the shuttle buses to and from the centre were regular. Car hire from the hotel is really reasonable at 50 ish euros per day including all Insurances. Id bring a phone holder and 12v charger next time though as the car didnt have car play. Booking the dolphin watching was great too. Magic dolphin tours was really good. We took the hotel recommendation and paid the extra 5 euros per head for the "celebrity" tour. It was a much smaller group size from 150 people down to 25 on a lovely catamaran. Saw a pod of 30 dolphins. Uber is half the price of taxis and works fine out here. Dont miss going to a restaurant called mad market. Its ina. Shopping centre which sounds wored, but we had the best meal of the holiday there. Its a 15 min walk from the hotel and 4 euro uber back. Lovely stay, great hotel, brilliant staff. Thank you!

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The views are great, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast buffet has a wide range of choice. However, the reception staff were outstanding – it’s not often that you get excellent service with a sense of humour. They were really exceptional.
