Nest time I visit Sri Lanka, we would like to stay at Bertizan again.

This hotel is really beautiful, and Andrew the manager did a great job. It’s not shiny or flashy, but the breakfast is fantastic and the rooms with the balconies are very pretty.

The room was disappointing in that it was very small with a small bed. We had booked a superior room. The decor was shabby.
On the plus side we got a balcony (only one of two ) which looked out to sea and we enjoyed our time there although it would have been nice if the hotel had put shade up there.
The Sri Lankan breakfast was very good and the staff attentive and friendly.
At any other price range this would have been a pleasant stay but it is absolutely not worth the price charged. No element of luxury or comfort compared to a homestay.

The location is great. I had a perfect view of the ocean and the sunset from the balcony.
The hotel is a renovated building that is 250 years old, so it has a nice atmosphere.
The only disappointing thing is that there is no restaurant in the hotel. Breakfast was served on the first floor.
The air conditioning also didn't work very well. The shower had hot water, but the water pressure was not strong.
My room was on the top floor of the tower, but other rooms may be better.
I didn't think it was worth the price.

The location is very good, on the west side of the old city of Galle fort, close to the city wall. The hotel building itself was originally a fortress barracks. It is said that it was later used as a post office. Now it is a hotel, but the owner cannot change the original structure.
The hotel has two towers, north and south, each with a terrace. The terrace of the north tower is private to the room, and we booked this one. The room is not big and suitable for two people, but the terrace is amazing, overlooking the west coast and the nearby city walls, fortresses, and lively neighborhoods. Sit on the terrace for a while in the morning and evening, blowing the breeze of the Indian Ocean, comfortable.
The other rooms on the third floor of the hotel are larger, and you can overlook the west coast through the corridor. The courtyard on the ground floor is full of green plants, the mottled courtyard wall tells its history, and the blue and white decoration has a Mediterranean style. It feels like living in a museum.
We brought children with us, and the store upgraded us to a larger room for free, but we still chose a small room with a terrace. The service is good, basically accommodating. On the day of departure, we had already checked out and were wandering around the old town. It was raining heavily and we got soaked. When we got back to the hotel, the owner immediately gave us clean towels and opened a room for us to change clothes.
The richness of the breakfast exceeded our expectations, with fresh fruits, various fried eggs, staple foods, drinks and yogurt. We ordered too much again 😅 and packed up what we couldn't eat, which became a simple lunch.
Interesting travel experience, it seems like being in a Mediterranean town.
