Poiano Garda Resort Hotel

Well, it's a difficult one to review, as it depends on who you are and where you are! The demographic for this hotel is truly diverse. So we'll separate the apartment from the hotel. We had a two bedroom apartment and it was very clean, spacious and beds were comfortable with high quality linen. However, we were unable to use the balcony as firstly, in the early evening, the full sun was just too hot hot to sit out in (no parasol provided, though some ground floor apartments were completely undercover and others faced in different directions) secondly, due to the fact that some balconies are shared (without a divider) our neighbours were chainsmokers and the slight breeze would waft their plumes of smoke towards our end of the balcony. The walls are very thin, you can hear everything, including the neighbour using the bathroom, and not just the flushing if you get my meaning! The apartments are for self-catering families who have turned up in their cars with everything they need - this is definitely the way to go here. If you are planning on using the apartment to cook, you will need to bring tea towels and dish clothes etc. You will also need hand soap and washing up liquid which you can get at a shop. There are a few restaurants nearby but would recommend booking a table as they get very busy (as vegetarians we found there isn't a great selection) Some have more staff than others. Waiting times vary. There is a shop around a 20-minute walk away. We grabbed a few essentials in the shop opposite the bus station, when in Garda. The hotel has a fantastic view and full of wonderful friendly staff. The shop is only open from 8-10 (just two hours) and sells, well, hardly anything. We enjoyed the musical entertainment with a drink (if you manage to order more than one in the evening you are lucky - one barman until around 10pm (who is also preparing drinks for the restaurant.) We had a lovely and plentiful continental breakfast each morning - if you are a morning person this is great, if you are not, it's a 10-minute walk (trudge) up hill! and then another walk back. The hotel supplies a shuttle to Garda which at times you will have to wait in a queue for but it is very regular and they use two when it is really busy. However, if you're in the apartments, again it's a walk up hill to the hotel and when you come back you'll pass the apartments and will then have to walk back down. If it wasn't so hot, from the apartments, some days, it would have been quicker to walk in to town (around 30 minutes). If you don't organise yourself, you could be walking up and down unnecessarily. The hotel grounds are wonderful and the pool is very refreshing on a hot day, with plenty of lounge chairs and offers snacks (3 euros a can of drink). The games room needs to locked and forgotten about - all machines were out of order, the pool table had balls missing and most cues had no tips (though seemed to be free to play) I've given it 4 stars as it is a lovely hotel

The weekend of the end of June of the son and his girlfriend was ruined by the notice of unauthorized entry into ZTL. ingress that was indicated by the Hotel Directorate to the staying for the discharge of baggage ('passed calms'). After 2 months and a half on September 10, it is verbally notified by Euro 76 that becomes Euro 101 if you pay it after 5 gg. I called the Municipal Police Command to explain the incident ... providing evidence of confirmation of the stay booking ... Because the email sent to the hotel by me has not been followed up. The Command explained that it is the Hoteller who sends the traveller's vehicles plate to justify entry to ZTL...ma reading other reviews I find that the ”communication defect” of the Hotel Directorate is repeated : The hotel is a very bad place to make a pleasure. allows ...expenditure that the non-communication hotel is required to pay to the Municipal Police. You can always choose where to stay in Garda!
