We stay at pet friendly Hampton Inns frequently, it’s our “go to” hotel chain, but Roanoke Rapids was disappointing, to say the least. The amenities were good and as promised (fridge, microwave, tv were all functional, room was clean etc)‘but the rooms are dark and uninviting , with dated furnishings and extremely poor ventilation. The card key system to enter the building as well as the rooms was temperamental, even the cleaning staff struggled to get into our room, and there were simple but needed repairs in the room that had not been attended to. Worst of all however was the smell, both in the hall ways and in the room. The dank, musty odor of unwashed carpet was everywhere that was carpeted, and the sickly fragrance used to disguise it was even worse. We do this trip twice a year, and will definitely not be staying here again even through the staff were very pleasant and the location very convenient; that smell and the perfumed cover up attempt were deal beakers for us.

This was our 2nd visit here & we are so glad we came back again!! The previous exceptional customer service brought us back to their hotel. From the agents at the front desk Ebony and Denise to the manager Samantha. We would highly recommend this hotel, especially for those travelers who have a service animal. The rooms are clean always, the beds are comfy and the pillows are amazing! The included breakfast is an added plus and the breakfast room was exceptionally clean as well! The parking lot is well lit and has security doors to enter. When traveling I would definitely make this Country Inn & Suites the place to rest your head!
