Some Place Else

This is a fantastic international youth hostel. The front desk staff are fluent in both Chinese and English, and they organize activities every night. You'll meet people from all over the world here. The public area on the first floor is huge, and I really loved the beanbag chairs in the lobby. Plus, the lobby is nice and cool!

The rooms, bathrooms, and public areas are all very clean, with daily housekeeping and a dedicated drying rack for clothes. The public areas are spacious, and there's also a rooftop and a kitchen. I arrived late on the day of check-in, and the main gate (pictured in photo 5) was locked. You need to go to the small iron gate on the right side of the photo and either call or knock to see if anyone is at the front desk to let you in.

Great location, clean, and a fantastic vibe. The front desk staff speak Malay, English, and Chinese. They organize daily activities like group dinners and hikes up Penang Hill. There's a kitchen available if you want to cook your own meals, and a free water dispenser for refills.

Cleanliness: Extremely clean, cleaned promptly, even cleaner than my own home. Facilities: The drying rack for clothes was excellent, and there's a study room. Safety: Very safe, with 36 people in the room, there's no way anything could go wrong. Environment: Not on a main road so it's very quiet, and the guests are also very considerate.

I arrived quite late on the first day, and the front desk was already closed. I called multiple times, but no one answered. The platform told me to leave a message, and my email didn't get a reply either... I was actually ready to give up and leave a bad review. Then, suddenly, my phone rang at 1 AM, and someone responded – possibly a substitute staff member... After that, check-in went smoothly... The overall environment and concept are pretty good, and there's a suitable spot for me to get work done. Most importantly, seeing the lady diligently cleaning the beds the next morning really made up for it. I've saved this location for future reference.

Gotta say, the vibe at this hostel is amazing, exactly what you'd expect from an international hostel. There are activities every night, and everyone is so welcoming. It's perfect for young people and those who love to socialize. Just a friendly tip: it's a good idea to bring a pair of slippers! 😹😹😹 And they have cats! When I was leaving in the morning, a cat seemed to sense I was alone and came over to keep me company.

The hostel is always clean, and they have lockers available. There's also a great spot to dry clothes. It's right in the old town, which I loved! They even organize hiking trips, and climbing mountains with everyone was so much fun. Don't be shy, definitely join in! The hostel's little cat is also adorable~ Oh, and there's a kitchen you can use, which I only discovered at the end.
