Surprised us with luggage delivery service. The attendant lifted the luggage up with ropes via a hook to the upper floor before it was delivered to the guest room. Nice heritage ambiance for a short stay.

You need to take off your shoes to go upstairs to your room. The house is very clean and has a Nanyang style old house. The Little India area is downstairs!

Facilities: Although relatively simple, you can feel that the store is full of care and has everything you need. Hygiene: Very clean, I feel like home in this environment Environment: Surrounded by Little India, you can walk more than 100 meters to the beach to see the sea. There is a ferry on the other side of the sea. Service: The service is very good. The boss personally helps you with your luggage, and also asks if you want an omelette. He also gives you an Indian pancake to try, which is very considerate.

I have travelled for 40 years and stayed in all kinds of places. Ren I Tang is right up there. The staff, especially the manager Joline were always happy and very helpful. Great conversion from a chine herbalist to a boutique hotel in the middle of Georgetown. Really nice breakfast selection, even homemade bread. Restaurant food also spot on. In an age of franchises and hotel chains it had a feeling of real old school hospitality The only downside was that I couldn't stay any longer Bravo 6 stars from me

What a pleasure. A funky little hotel in the middle of the little india. A step back in history. All the staff were exceptional and the breakfast was terrific. They even go to the extent of going across the road to the lady who sells noodles just so you can have noodles for breakfast. Amazing. This place was a highlight of our holiday.

Ren I Tan was the perfect marriage of charming, historic stay with modern amenities and lovely staff. The location is incredibly central in the historic Georgetown and, while the city is working on becoming more walkable in general, it is a very walkable location near to delicious restaurants and historic sites. The room was clean and spacious with plenty of space for myself and two teen boys. While we did experience some street noise due to the central location it wasn't bad and did not prevent any of us from having a great night's sleep. Located within the same building is a bistro which is where breakfast was served in the morning and a great place to grab a drink and get some work done. This was important as the Wifi in the room wasn't the best which was frustrating from my boys when they tried to do schoolwork. Overall thought this was a wonderful stay and a great value.

What an experience staying here. It is a fabulous quirky heritage Inn in a brilliant location and although we spent 5 days here, we were still discovering fascinating pieces of history in the building by the time we left. To say its full of character is an understatement but what really stands out here is the staff. They are wonderful, kind and friendly, we really didn’t want to leave. We have spent 5 weeks travelling Malaysia, sometimes staying in 5 star hotels and this has been our favourite place to stay. It will stay in our memories for sure.

Great location, lots of street noise during the day, but not a problem at all after 10pm. Friendly staff, and a good mix of options in the breakfast

We loved our stay at the Ren I Tang. A great location for exploring and full of character. Has a real sense of bygone George Town but with modern comforts such as AC. The staff were lovely and went out of their way to help when we had an awkward departure time. Thank you!

Staying in a restored Chinese herbalist's shophouse is a unique and wonderful experience. Absolutely loved the character of the building and the co-owner, Teng, was a fantastic resource for suggestions. The location of this property is fantastic, very near to tons of restaurants, Little India, currency exchanges, and other sights of interest. The steep wooden staircase and the collection of old medical paraphernalia gave this place a lot of charm and character. We also liked coming in at night and hanging out in the bistro area before going up to our room. We are very pleased that we chose to pay a little more in order to stay here. However, the breakfast was a letdown - it was not bad, just not that great. The cooked-to-order eggs, fruit, coffee/tea, and roti were all quite good but the rest of the offerings were meh. Also, our room was quite small and the bathroom not nice, as it has an unfinished concrete floor and no design/decor. there was no counter space to put toiletries. But, the shower itself was good - hot and strong. We really like this hotel overall. We think it was a little overpriced, however understand it takes more money to have the privilege to stay in a restored historic building.
