Hygiene: There was an unknown black stain on the sheets, which I assume wasn't from being unwashed, but rather indelible. The outside of the room window was very dirty and hadn't been cleaned.
Facilities: The lobby was spacious with a somewhat old-fashioned, opulent decor, but it clearly showed its age. While the room facilities were a bit dated, it surprisingly had two tables, one of which was a vanity table with a huge illuminated mirror – very convenient for women who need to do their makeup. The curtains were odd, neither white, purple, nor blue, and they cast a strange bluish-purple light into the room, which wasn't great.
Location: It's very close to many souvenir shops recommended on Xiaohongshu, just a few minutes' walk away. It's especially close to the Beryl's chocolate specialty store, just a left turn out the door. It's also quite close to the sea.
Breakfast: There was a good variety. I'm not sure if many Japanese guests stay here, but the Japanese food counter was quite large, with lots of sushi and various Japanese sauces. The fried kway teow was especially delicious, spicy and with that wok-hei flavor! The yogurt was even better! I highly recommend the blueberry yogurt! My companion and I had two large bowls!
Service: The front desk staff member was very friendly during check-in. There were three different complimentary juices in the lobby, which was good. The front desk also had a scale specifically for weighing luggage, which was a nice touch.
