De Waterzooi Suites

Awesome spot, awesome amenities, friendly owners. Stayed in the Felix suite. The little details make the difference...a really good hairdryer, an actual makeup mirror, a comfortable sitting area, a balcony to sit outside at the back and it is super quiet. Although it's in a busy area, cannot hear anything at night (area closes down around 9pm). We would stay here again. Highly recommend it!

This is the most wonderful, luxurious place to stay. We've been to Europe more than 25 times, and Christian and Kay really know how to run a guest house. The suites are large and beautifully appointed with everything you could possibly need while staying in Ghent. Plenty of closet space, refrigerator space and living space combine to make you feel as if you're in your own apartment! Breakfast is delicious, with a little surprise each morning to start your day. The location is perfect, with a great view of the castle. And, of course, the kind and helpful owners ensure you enjoy all that Ghent has to offer.

We were fortunate enough to book 'The Lodge' - a 3 story 2 bedroom house from medieval times. Directly facing the Gravensteijn Castle and above a Belgium Waffle & Pancake business. (ooh the smells 😊) The place is incredible, and very authentic with all mod-cons available. The owners have taken great care in preserving the original features and added some useful modern touches. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. Highly Recommended.

Christian and Kay are hands down the best innkeepers we have ever stayed with! The front door was a bit tricky to find as it was hidden in the middle of a restaurant seating (we walked by it several times.) But once we were inside we didn't want to leave. The whole building is absolutely beautiful and you cannot beat the location literally steps from the Gravensteen Castle. So glad we got the 1st floor suite as our legs were so tired after walking all day long. But it was the little touches too that set them apart. There was a small fridge with water and drinks for us during our stay which was appreciated as it was unseasonably warm. We were so tired one morning and slept in so Kay left a tray of breakfast outside our door for us. And she cared so much about a baby pigeon that had built a nest outside our window and kept checking on it (along with us) during our stay. Wonderful comfy bed, relaxing living room, all the amenities and the best breakfast with homemade yogurt, fresh juices and pastries every day. She does not let you go hungry. Overall we recommend De Waterzooi to anyone who visits Ghent and can't wait to return.

We stayed in the De Waterzooi Lodge for two nights. The Lodge is amazing - the decor, the amenities, the location, the comfort - everything. Kay and Christian have thought of everything, right down to the last detail. It's probably the best self-catering apartment we have ever stayed in. There stairs might be a problem for those with a disability but are not unmanageable for most. If you want to stay in Ghent, then De Waterzooi (either the B&B or Lodge), are wonderful for location alone and they are hosted by the nicest, most helpful people, Kay and Christian.

Right in the heart of Gent a precious hide-away with parking facility! Kay and Christian are the loviest hosts you can imagine, with a smile and a joke they offer you an exquisite breakfast with a gorgeous view at the garden. We stayed in the upper suite with 2 double beds, perfect sleep with extra pillows. The decoration through the entire B&B is overwelming and delicate, great taste. Also enjoyed the sunset at our terrace, view at the 4 church towers. All in the walking vicinity of shopping area, loads of bars and restaurants, Patershol and opposite the castle Gravensteen, we will go back, will you go?
