Premier Inn Glasgow City Centre (St. Enoch Square)

Breakfast was quite substantial, and they have a partnership with the restaurant downstairs, so kids eat free if you pay for an adult breakfast. They offered hash browns and two or three types of eggs (no need to order separately), much like what you'd find in China. The coffee machine didn't have mocha, but otherwise, it was fine. The duvet cover for the children's bed was missing; it was a sofa bed, not a traditional mattress. Since we checked in late, there wasn't a dedicated cleaning staff to put on the duvet cover. The staff helped us put it on right away (though they weren't entirely careful, for example, putting the duvet cover on the floor – luckily, I stopped most of it in time). The sheer curtain rod easily falls off; it's the simple, non-drilled-into-the-wall British style. Apparently, the windows throughout the hotel can't be opened, but ventilation is possible. Overall, the experience was just so-so.

I extended my stay for another day, mainly because the location is very convenient. The surrounding transport links are good, and it's easy to shop and find places to eat. There's a supermarket very close by.

The location is super convenient, close to two train stations. Central Station is less than a 10-minute walk, and Queen Street Station is a bit further, about a 12-minute walk. The subway entrance is just a few steps from the hotel. We booked a family room, and it was nice and quiet, perfect for a good rest. The windows don't open, but there's a note saying the air conditioning can keep fresh air circulating. We didn't have breakfast, so I can't comment on that. My only complaint is the bathroom sink. Whenever we used it, a foul smell would come up from the drain. Also, the water pressure was very low, and you couldn't adjust it – it was like a tiny little showerhead, which made washing your face a real chore. The hand soap dispenser was fixed to the wall and looked quite old; there were obvious stains on the bottle from not being cleaned. I have no idea how often the soap inside is changed; perhaps they just top it off when it looks low, leaving the old soap at the bottom. Despite the bathroom issue, I would still consider booking with this brand again in the future.
