Best Hotels in Glenorchy

We stayed for one night before exploring the silo trail and travelling through to Mildura. We felt the room was good value for money, very clean, well appointed and had everything we needed for a very comfortable short stay. The shower and vanity have been updated and the bed and bedding was comfortable and good quality. The TV has Foxtel and the wifi connection was good. The owners take an obvious pride in their business and it shows in the exceptionally well maintained property and rooms. We would happily return if in Stawell again.

I rang to say I would probably miss check-in, (driving in from Melbourne and was caught in storms), no problem, the very nice and helpful Brenda gave me the code for the room key. The motel is an oldish one but I was pleasantly surprised by the very clean, neat and spacious room. Comfy bed, big wall mounted TV, new shower with great water pressure, nice towels, well equipped with microwave etc and while the air con unit is an older one, it works (it was during a hot spell). It's on a highway so expect some truck noise but it's not that bad. There's a cafe and Macca's nearby for the all important coffee and brekky. I will stay there again for the next visit.

Going to Grampians on Saturday, the room is relatively small, so we have to book in advance, we can only stay for half an hour or so, stay in this house, but the town has a supermarket, shopping is convenient. Breakfast is free, it is bread milk and cereal cereal, which is relatively simple, and it is a bit cold to eat. The bed is 1.5 meters, and the sleeping family is a bit crowded.

Drive from Ade to Grampians National Park and choose this camp. When I first arrived, I encountered many kangaroos playing in the lawn and interacting with people. It is not afraid of people at all, very interesting! Speaking back to the hotel, when we arrived, the staff had already got off work, put the key and map in the box, and took the map and entered the password to drive into the camp, which is very convenient. The room is small, but it is enough. Watching the stars in the evening, the beautiful parrots greet us in the morning. Great feeling! It should be noted that if you are driving, you must pay attention to the arrival time. The surrounding dining will basically end before 5 o'clock, but fortunately there is an Indian restaurant that is open until 9 o'clock to save us!

All accommodation features a kitchen or kitchenette, a flat-screen TV and mountain views.The Halls Gap BIG4 Grampians Holiday Park is 2 minutes’ drive from Grampians Tourist Information Centre. It is 5 minutes’ drive from both Halls Gap Zoo and The Gap Vineyard.Recreation facilities include a billiards table, table tennis and a jumping pillow. Younger guests can enjoy a children’s playground.The air-conditioned accommodation options include studios and self-contained apartments and villas. All features a dining area, a DVD player and private bathroom facilities. Some accommodation offers a patio or spa bath.

Sadly this is not a Motel I would recommend staying at when visiting Halls Gap. The positives - Great communication from the Manager Kelly who from the moment we booked provided ample information about the property and it's surrounds. We were told our room was upgraded from a budget room to a Superior room which we were very excited about as I read on the Hotel Web page that the superior rooms had recently been renovated. The shower was nice and hot and had great pressure and the towels were fresh and clean but that is were the positive finished. We arrived late (9pm) and were leaving early the next morning (6.30am) so it was really just a place to lay our head for the night but the room was far from inviting. The carpet was badly stained with brown marks especially at the front door, the room had a funny oder (potentially because it was a 'pet friendly' room). We were travelling with our dog and paid $15 extra for the privilege eventhough this was not made clear on the booking.com web page which we booked on. I later found it was mentioned on the Gariwerd Motel booking page but we did not book on this. A suggestion would be to add it to the booking.com page too. The bathroom sink had a big black curly hair in it, the toilet door did not close properly and there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom so the entire room fogs up and condensation runs down the walls when you have a shower. It was freezing cold when we arrived so of course the first thing we needed to do was put the heating on. This ended up being a 20 minute process. After following instructions given, resetting the machine, cleaning the filters (which were caked in dust - picture provided) we finally got it working. Now I am not in the habit of writing negative reviews. Infact, I think this is my first trip advisor review ever but I felt compelled to write as I had read such good reviews about the Motel and in particular the emphasis on the cleanliness of the rooms. Sadly this is not what we experienced at all. I can't seem to upload pictures onto this link but will try and add them to the official Trip Advisor page.

Hotel facilities are relatively old, window air-conditioning noise is basically not available, but there is an electric heater to resist the cold of Halls Gap night. The hotel is an old couple who are very welcoming and very patient with the Chinese who do not understand English. The room was clean and the bedding was comfortable. Open the balcony door to see the kangaroos jumping on the wide grass, about a hundred. The kangaroos are not afraid of people, they will jump in front of you, but you must know how to fear kangaroos, they are violent attackers.

The location was excellent, 5 mins away from Halls gap restaurants. The motel has a swimming pool, tennis courts, BBQ & stove, as well as a walking trail. Saw kangaroos. The room was decently clean, although the table was sticky. Mostly soundproof except at the door area. Toilet was good too but Could have provided toothbrush or other toiletries. The owner & staff were very friendly & helpful. He recommend food places, milk, & offered to set up a campfire.

A complimentary herb garden is offered as well as free-range chicken eggs, when available. Grampians Eco YHA is 1 km from the Halls Gap town centre and 4 minutes’ drive from Halls Gap Zoo and The Gap Vineyard. It is 140 km from Ballarat. You can visit Aboriginal rock art sites, scenic lookouts and waterfalls all within the Grampians National Park. Various wildlife live throughout the park, including kangaroos, deer and native birds. Accommodation options include both dormitory rooms and private rooms. All include shared bathroom facilities. All rooms include security lockers and linen is provided. Other onsite facilities include a guest laundry, ironing supplies and luggage storage.

Very comfortable accommodation in an awesome setting. We stayed in a two bedroom cottage which had everything you needed. Very clean. It felt quite secluded and private with the bonus of visiting emus and kangaroos We made good use of the pool and tennis court. Jurek was a great host. Handy location to town and nearby pub. Definitely will stay again.
