We recently stayed at Flower Resort Albania and, unfortunately, I would give the hotel 3 stars at best. There were some positives, but overall, I don’t feel the experience matched the 4/5-star rating or the standards I would expect from other hotels with a similar rating. Breakfast: This was one of the biggest disappointments. There were far too many sweet options and not enough variety for a good-quality hotel breakfast. You could only use the espresso machine, with no option to order freshly made coffees. I asked for poached eggs and the request seemed completely unusual to the staff. The boiled eggs were so overcooked that they were difficult to peel, and the fruit appeared to have been left out for quite some time. Scrambled eggs were served every day, and the oily Greek salad became repetitive after a while. Spa & pool: The spa itself is nice and has potential, but it could be much better maintained. On one occasion, there was a clump of hair by the pool which remained there for two days, which gave the impression that the pool area wasn’t being cleaned daily. On a couple of occasions, there were no towels available in the spa. We asked reception if we could use the towels from our room, but were told we couldn’t. This left us in a difficult situation, and I found it disappointing that there wasn’t a more customer-focused solution. Room: The room was a good size and having a mini fridge was useful. However, there was visible limescale around the shower, and there was no shower gel provided — only shampoo and conditioner. The bedding was quite thin and there were no bathrobes, which I would have expected given the hotel’s rating and the fact that it has a spa. One positive was that we were able to arrange a late checkout for €10 per hour, which was useful and appreciated. Overall, there were some good aspects to the stay, but the hotel did not feel like the 4/5-star property it is presented as. The breakfast, room amenities and spa maintenance all fell short of what I would expect at that level. Based on our experience, I would rate it no higher than 3 stars. If the hotel addressed these relatively simple issues and paid more attention to cleanliness, breakfast variety and customer service, I think the overall experience could be significantly improved.
