The hotel is very well located with a lovely pool.
The room was very spacious.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming.
However, it was a bit dirty. There was no sponge or dish soap.
The same was true in the bathroom: some of the previous tenants' belongings were still there, plus there was no shower gel or shampoo.

Everything is fine, but the Wi-Fi is only in the common areas of the room and barely works.

Location is great to be within walking distance of restaurants but has no beach view and you know that when booking. The grocery stores are a bit of a hike but you could do it. Suggest checking a cooler the food is crazy expensive. Expect to pay $60 breakfast, $80-$120 dinner and we do not drink alcohol. A beer is $8 a cocktail is $15 minimum. Minimum for a dinner plate is $25 to $30. Back to pretty palms, it does have palm trees and flowers. GBS itself is well landscaped and pretty, BUT Danny Bouy’s, the bar across the lot, has made a mess of 3 lots that you see from your balcony. Not much of an atmosphere. GBS is not a resort but it is very nice, the staff are cheerful and happy to help. The pool is clean and refreshing. The chair pads need replaced but the not torn ones are good to use. Beach/pool towels are provided and they are not stingy with them. There are reserved beach loungers and umbrellas on first come first serve basis. The water is a bit harsh on windy days. On calm days even children can use the local beach. Just across the street, to the left, down the sidewalk is beach access and your reserved loungers. About a 2 min walk. Other options are Leeward Beach 8 min. Drive away. Taylor and Turtle beaches are 20 min drive. Our room had the kitchenette. It worked out but there are only dishes for 2 people. It has a fridge, stove/oven, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, and electric skillet to use instead of oven. The balcony is nice but you got to appreciate the palm trees not the disaster Danny Bouy’s makes of the adjoining lots. The beds are comfy. The shower, if you get the kitchenette room, is bent and pointed at the wall. The shower is on the very high ceiling and my 6’4” husband tried but it is permanently fixed to run down the wall so showers are a bit difficult. We would go here again since it meets our dietary needs and budget while having a clean nice place to stay with chairs on the beach.

We booked a suite in advance and planned our night carefully. Just 2 hours before check-in, we received a call saying the previous guest was “still staying” and that they could not take us anymore. This is completely unacceptable and shows zero respect for customers’ time and planning. No proper solution, no responsibility taken – just a last-minute cancellation that ruined our evening. If a hotel cannot manage its bookings professionally, it should not be accepting reservations in the first place. Very untrustworthy experience. I do not recommend this place at all.

A Very Good Option in Grand Baie area. Well located. Two small beaches closeby. Adjacent Grocery Shop. Plenty of restaurants/malls in the vicinity. Grand Baie anyway is a high-end tourist area and Grand Baie Suites is a good place to stay and explore the north side of the island. The property itself is neat and well maintained. Our twin room was large with good beds. Large kitchenette area with all amenities. Twin ACs. Well appointed bathrooms. Daily cleaning/housekeeping. Parking is outside but safe. Totally worth the money we paid.

Having read some of the reviews I was a bit nervous about staying here. We lowered our expectations and were actually pleasantly surprised. Yes, the complex and the rooms are in need of some TLC and doesn’t really look like the official photos any more, word of caution, TUI are still marketing this as a 4 star complex, if you go expecting that you will be disappointed. But the apartment was roomy and met our needs. There were things like some black mild patches in a couple of spots on the ceiling, but it did not affect us so we weren’t worried. There are some stray dogs living close by but they aren’t dangerous and there are dogs all over the island unfortunately so that could be a problem wherever you stay. I also saw people comment on the noise from the local nightclub, but we didn’t notice it and had no issues. We found the complex peaceful and friendly and we will hopefully return.

Just returned from this property! We stayed from the 26th Jan, and lasted two nights of a one week booking. Unless you like cockroaches, prepared to accept staying in a property which is tired and run down, and poorly maintained, avoid at all costs. We booked for a week, and had to leave after the second night as previously mentioned. The pictures are out of date, and probably taken using a magic wand! Because it doesn’t look like that now. Four cockroaches, cooker only had one ring working, toilet seat broken, very flimsy. Couldn’t open the shower door because it was catching on the floor, bed was extremely uncomfortable, quilt not big enough for the bed, so constantly fighting for cover. Only 3 coat hangers to start with, also the window in the bathroom was broken, so you couldn’t close it to stop insects coming in. The air conditioning leaked water onto the floor, the lounge furniture had rips in it, basically need I say more!! I contacted my agent to request a refund once arrived home, but basically the hotel denied there was any problem, and actually blamed me for the toilet seat!! With reference to the 4 cockroaches, they replied by saying they offered me bug spray, which they did. That was just in 48hrs. We was on a ground floor apartment, they offered a replacement, but accepted that we’d had enough, and needed to move on. The only positive thing I can say about this property is the staff, with the exception of the day manager who just sat around all day on his phone. Especially the guy who booked us in on the day we arrived, only to find out he was the maintenance guy on a following day, he was very helpful. When we left, the manager was really only concerned about what review we would leave. Fortunately we have stayed in Mauritius a number of times, and was able to find new accommodation pretty quickly. We booked through Agoda, no help or support at all. You decide if you want to take a chance!

Here’s a refined version of your review: Our experience at this accommodation was extremely disappointing. The apartment furniture was in poor condition, and there were ants everywhere, even on the bed. The kettle and microwave & dished in the cupboard were dirty, and the air conditioners leaked into the wardrobe. On top of that, there were cockroaches, and the shower head was heavily covered in limescale. Some of my travel companions faced similar issues in their units. Their stoves didn’t work, and alarmingly, worms were coming out of the bathroom basin at 1 of the unit’s. The WiFi was only available at reception, not in the rooms. We had initially booked and paid for 11 nights but left after just one due to the unacceptable conditions, we were not refunded for the remaining nights or even partially compensated. I strongly advise avoiding this accommodation.

The staff were all very polite, friendly and helpful! The apartment was clean and well equipped and the bed was huge! Lovely pool and surrounding gardens that were all well maintained. The birds were beautiful and visited us a breakfast time! Saturday nights were lively due to a nearby nightclub but that added excitement to our visit! The bus stop was nearby for visiting other areas and bus fares very cheap! The supermarket next door was well stocked, good for food, sweets and insect repellent! Thank you Ram and all the staff for welcoming us, offering advice on trips and making our stay memorable! We loved the whole Mauritian experience even though the mosquitos loved us too!

We stayed at Grand Bay Suites in December for a week. From the welcome and the check in and everything in between, it was a pleasure. The rooms were very spacious and clean and well fitted for our self catering stay. The rooms were serviced everyday and was a pleasure coming back to after a long day out. The only issue, and this was a problem, is that you cannot get Wi-Fi in the rooms. You have to be on the balcony in order to connect. With the heat and humidity in Mauritius in December, this is a real problem with all the insects. The resort definitely needs to upgrade their Wi-Fi. The staff were always very friendly and very accommodating. I wouldn't hesitate to return for another holiday
