What a lovely place. Room was clean and attention to detail is excellent. We booked a table in the restaurant one evening during our stay and so glad we did. Food was delicious and the bar was cozy and welcoming. Breakfast was lovely too and can’t beat the view. Will be back when we visit the area again.

Having previously had a lovely mid week lunch we decided to book for Sunday Lunch. We came with great expectations.I chose the roast beef and my wife the lamb. The beef was tender but it was mushy like eating corned beef. The roast potatoes were undercooked and disgusting the Yorkshire pudding was tough the veg non descript and gravy tasteless. The lamb was tasteless almost uncut-able and fatty. The overall presentation was poor and the food was cold. Nobody asked how our meal was and even when I went to pay i was not asked if everything was okay. The staff were warm and friendly and the setting to die for. Sunday Lunch a definite No No! Is there anywhere within a 20 mile radius of Norwich where we can get a decent Sunday Lunch?

The worst service I've ever had, call in by chance thought what a lovely place we ordered our drinks ( they couldn't get that right) my partner asked for half of lager they gave him a pint didn't make a fuss as we couldn't see they were busy so we took our drinks outside we thought it was a lovely place and decided to sit in the sunshine. We decided to have Sunday lunch so we whom we thought was the manager and was taking bookings it we had to make a booking he said it was a good idea, we came back but was earlier than the allotted time but he said not a problem and would get a table sorted for us which he showed us to, it was a very small table next to the door which was unsuitable as it was only fit for one person, ( we would have been better sitting in the carpark!!!!!! We were ignored by several staff roaming about and clearing tables, when I managed to catch the eye of a waitress as several people had left could we be seated at a more appropriate table she offered us on it the bar next to nother door where people were walking in ant and out with drinks we pointed out that we had already waited 15 minutes at no time had anyone ask us for a drink or food order!!!! Like I said the worst service I would never recommend to anyone Terrible!!!!!! Staff need training

A lovely find down a quite private road. Great food excellent selection too, all freshly cooked to order. Breakfast was also excellent more than we could eat sadly. The accommodation was a bonus bed excellent and the air conditioning on a hot day was wonderful. The staff were welcoming and helpful. It was fun watching the antics of the ducks and geese outside. Somewhere to return too again

I want to start by saying that this used to be one of my partner's and my favourite places to visit. I've been coming here for over 10 years and even recommended it to a friend as a wedding venue, which she chose because of how highly I spoke of it. Sadly, what was once an amazing venue with excellent food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere has declined dramatically. It now serves very basic meals, the hygiene standards appear to have slipped, and the customer service is among the worst we've experienced. The decline has been gradual, but our last two visits have been unacceptable. On our previous visit, we found plastic in our food. Yesterday's visit was no better. The roast potatoes were rock hard and completely bland, the coffee tasted as though the milk had gone off, and my partner found a hair in his Coke, which was only half full when it was served. The service was equally disappointing. Despite the restaurant being almost empty when we arrived, we waited around 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order while staff stood chatting behind the bar. Throughout our entire meal, not a single member of staff checked whether everything was okay. To make matters worse, when I politely asked for the bill, a young member of staff completely ignored me and continued chatting and smirking behind the bar. After waiting even longer, I eventually gave up and went to pay at the bar myself. The owner, who was once friendly, welcoming, and couldn't do enough for customers, seemed completely uninterested. He simply told me the total—£48 for two tiny roast dinners, each with just two thin slices of meat, and two drinks—without any concern for the poor experience we'd had. It's genuinely disappointing to see somewhere that was once so special fall so far. If you're looking for overpriced food, poor quality, disappointing service, and a lack of attention to hygiene, then this is the place for you. Unfortunately, after more than a decade of loyalty, we won't be returning.

We’ve just returned from a two-night stay in Heron Lodge at The Boathouse and had a really enjoyable stay. The location is beautiful, and the lodge was well equipped, clean, and very comfortable. All of the staff we met were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We had dinner in the pub restaurant one evening and it was really tasty with great service. Breakfast was also excellent—a lovely fry-up, and our son especially enjoyed the pancakes. A couple of small points for improvement: it would be nice if the lodge had a daily tidy-up service, even just making the beds and doing a quick refresh during the stay. We stayed during a very unusual hot spell at the end of May, so appreciate the temperatures were higher than normal, but air conditioning in the lodge would have made a big difference. There were fans provided, which was appreciated, but they were mostly just moving the hot air around rather than cooling the space. There were lots of ducks around, which was lovely, and our son absolutely loved that they came to say hello at our lodge door in the morning. The only downside was that there was duck poo across quite a lot of the outside areas, which wasn’t very pleasant. We appreciate that with so many ducks it’s probably a constant job, but more regular cleaning of those areas would make a difference. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would happily visit again.

What a lovely place. The staff were so kind and helpful during our stay, but especially when catering for allergies. The food at breakfast was really delicious and fresh. We didn’t eat evening meals or lunch but the menu was large. The boathouse is a very pretty location and the room was comfy with everything we needed. There were toiletries and tea/coffee/hot chocolate in the room. There are geese and ducks outside. Would recommend!
