I have mixed feelings about this hotel, a bit more negative than positive. First off the hotel looks great from the outside, and the common areas are very nice as well. The hotel is a converted monastery so it definitely has character and charm. However once you scratch below the surface then you start to realize this should not be labeled a luxury hotel. If it was independent I would have less of a problem with it, but they are part of the "Small Luxury Hotel" alliance (SLH) therefore they have international hotel luxury levels to uphold but unfortunately they do not. I am no longer top tier of the SLH loyalty program, I recently did not stay often enough with this hotel chain to renew top tier so I am now middle tier, consequently I did not expect a material room upgrade. I received a modest +1 upgrade from entry level room which was not a surprise. The room was acceptable in some ways, but the upkeep / maintenance was lacking. The towel heater was not heating and the paint was cracking and rusting. The room was very hot so we needed to open the window for some fresh air; the handle was loose and difficult to operate and will possibly fall off soon. The hairdryer was hanged and attached to the wall, which is something far more common at cheap hotels like an Ibis. The main feature which did not meet luxury standards was breakfast. It was appalling, in Italy of all places. The only hot dish was scrambled eggs and bacon. The only vegetable available was large uncut tomatoes. Heck even lowly Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express hotels offer better. Service was hit and miss - in the restaurant it was fine, and also I wanted to buy bottles of wine from their impressive cellar and someone came to unlock it and show me around. But there were other aspects where service fell short of luxury level. Upon arrival there was nobody to help at the entrance with luggage. Also every luxury hotel should have room service available all day but at this hotel it did not start until 8pm which made it impossibly late because we travel with a 2-year old. The restaurant itself also did not open until 8pm so we simply could not have dinner at the hotel. Overall this is not a luxury hotel and does not belong in the SLH group. If it was an independent hotel and considering the complete absence of international hotel chains in the area, I would be far more lenient but if a hotel belongs in an international group then guests will judge differently. The price tag at Park Hotel Ai Cappucini was also not cheap at all - it is inflated due to benefiting from the SLH name without fully delivering on quality.

A last minute booking (as we needed to move from a less than suitable hotel nearby) and we were not disappointed! An excellent hotel with a lovely welcome and wonderful front of house service. We had a superior room which was lovely with complimentary Prosecco to celebrate my wife's birthday whilst we were there. Although we didn't use it, complimentary spa and pool use was included with our room and the breakfasts and dinners were excellent with a good choice of dishes and impeccable service throughout. Well done on an excellent two night stay albeit a bit on the expensive side.

We just stayed at the Park Hotel Ai Cappuccini for 3 nights and it was excellent. The location was perfect for us as we enjoy walking and it was just a 10-15 minute walk to “Centro Storico di Gubbio.” We also had a car and it was a great base for seeing the surrounding area. They have great parking on site. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The building was beautiful. The facilities from the pool, workout room and sauna were great (to name just a few). They had a fabulous breakfast, very delicious. To top it off, you could see attention to every detail and entire staff was wonderful! Thank you so much to everyone at the Park Hotel Ai Cappucini! We’d love to return and I highly recommend!

Amazing hotel, beautiful rooms, beautiful spaces, amazing food. Great location and even possible to get out for a run in the morning. There are some beautiful buildings if you turn left out of driveway. Slowest, rudest barman in Italy. Customers a massive inconvenience.

For our one week stay, we expected a good place in this relaxing and historical town. We got so much more ! Excellent service, a stunning SPA facility and, cherry on top a great cake, an incredible restaurant. The food quality, variety end presentation could not have been better. The chef, that has been there for 30 years, definitely deserves a Michelin star. We'll surely go back. Best months to go are May or October. Avoid July and August, too hot and too crowded.

The conversion of the old monastery has been very tastefully done: an interesting mix of traditional and modern. The staff were all very polite and helpful. A good range of breakfast options in a lovely loggia. Dinner outside was good. There is a spa, pool, sun loungers, etc. but we only used the terrace bar there. Could park right outside the entrance. Gubbio itself is only a shortish walk away. Slightly more corporate than boutique in feel: slick rather than warm.

I think my rating should be 3.5 bubbles,...The hotel in located near a picture-perfect historic town of Gubbio - so this is a big plus already. Rooms are nowhere near a 4-star designation - very basic, sterile and borderline boring (think roadside Holiday Inn). A/C was not existent in mid-May (27C+ outside), had to talk to general manager to have it turned it on. Breakfast is very good for this class of hotel. All-in-all - good stay but nothing to write home about especially considering this hotel belongs to prestigious SLH group of hotels (Small Luxury Hotels).

Our 5-night stay in june this year at Park Hotel Ai Cappuccini was a real stroke of luck: spacious location, an upgrade as SLH members, friendly staff, good food and delicious Italian wines at fairly reasonable prices, beautiful design of the public areas (various lounges, bar and restaurant), cozy restaurant terrace and, not to forget: the facilities on the rooftop: (indoor) swimming pool, the spa, the huge terrace with a magnificent view of the hills-with-olive groves-and donkeys, tennis court… too many to mention. However, this praise would not be complete without mentioning a few shadow points: on the one hand, there were not enough parasols on the roof terrace and the pump and filter installation of the swimming pool, housed in the outbuildings and along which the sun loungers were arranged, caused quite a disturbing noise, as well as odor nuisance. So work should be done on this. On the other hand, it must be said that everything that has to do with breakfast (an extremely boring room and dated terrace) needs an urgent facelift. The breakfast itself is also on the fairly simple and unimaginative side with a staff not exactly overflowing with enthusiasm and friendliness. The latter did improve somewhat as they saw us again in the following days ;-) Definitely worth repeating!
