I explored the Shangri-La Guilin, and this hotel is quite expansive. Its exterior features Tang Dynasty architectural elements, and the large panoramic windows offer views of the mountains, water, and city on both sides of the Li River. With an outdoor pool and landscaped gardens, this is truly a hidden gem of an urban resort, offering a different feel from a typical city business hotel. The hotel's signature scent and the standard Shangri-La lobby elements are instantly recognizable. Given that Guilin is a relatively ordinary third or fourth-tier city, having such a hotel completely changed my perception of both Guilin and the Shangri-La brand. It also showed me that this hotel brand truly understands Chinese people and traditional Chinese culture. During my holiday back to my hometown of Chenzhou, I took the opportunity to visit nearby Guilin. It was actually my first time exploring Guilin, and apart from the scenic views along the way, the best part of my trip was surprisingly the hotel. While the Shangri-La didn't exceed my expectations with an unexpected wow factor, the consistent quality of this hotel brand is truly impressive. The breakfast highlight was undoubtedly the Chinese section, which incorporated local culinary elements. The staff's demeanor, greetings, seating, and even the head chef personally delivering freshly baked croissants, all demonstrated a well-oiled system of service. Our family of three had a fantastic stay here! The hotel grounds are huge, and our child absolutely loved the peacocks roaming around – we'd often spot them, which made the trip really fun. The room was spacious, and the service was thoughtful and attentive. The front desk even provided children's amenities. The facilities are comprehensive, with a kids' play area, a swimming pool, and even a sightseeing train. The back gate leads directly to the Li River. Breakfast offered a wide variety, and the Guilin rice noodles were delicious. Some facilities are a bit dated, but it didn't detract from our vacation. We didn't even need to leave the hotel to keep our child entertained. Our child still talks about the peacocks, so I highly recommend this for families with kids.

The hotel exceeded my expectations. It was excellent, and staying in a room with a mountain view was truly delightful. The staff were also very service-minded.

I personally feel this is the best hotel in Guilin. Although it's an older property, it's very well-maintained. The rooms are fully equipped, clean, and tidy. The hotel's location is also excellent, making it convenient to visit all the attractions, and you can even walk directly to the Li River from the back gate. The breakfast offers a wide variety, with authentic oil tea and rice noodles, and the freshly baked egg tarts are also delicious. I'll definitely bring my family to stay here again in the future.

Traveling with kids, the service was excellent – warm, polite, and they readily provided a bed rail and children's toothbrush when requested at the front desk. The hotel offers a beautiful view, and there's a back exit that leads directly to the Li River. The biggest surprise was finding a path right by the river where we could go down and play in the water. It was very shallow and clear, perfect for kids, and we even saw some people bringing their dogs to play! The hotel also has a mini train and peacocks, which the children absolutely loved. They said they want to come back here again next time!

The hotel is a bit old, so many of the facilities are a bit dated. However, the staff service and the garden outside the hotel are quite good. The view from the room is also beautiful, and the hotel's location is excellent for exploring Guilin. I would still choose this hotel again next time I visit.

Our room was upgraded to a Deluxe Club River View, and the scenery was fantastic. It would be even better if the Club Lounge offerings were more extensive, especially since August 30th when it was basically just drinks. Feeding the peacocks on the lawn was a delight, and Xiao Feng's service was very warm and welcoming. The kids had a great time playing in the Li River, which was very comfortable. Overall, we had a really good stay this time, perhaps also because the summer holidays are over and there are fewer guests.

This 16-year-old hotel is definitely due for a renovation. The moment I stepped onto my floor, there was a strong musty smell. Then, the floor drain in my room (413) started overflowing with incredibly foul-smelling water. The odor was overwhelming! I called the front desk the first time, and they said someone would come to fix it (I waited almost 40 minutes, until past 11 PM, but no one showed up). I called the front desk a second time, and no one answered. The third time I called, someone finally picked up and offered to switch my room. However, considering it was so late and my child was already asleep, I declined. Honestly, is this even a Shangri-La? In short, it's a far cry from a true Shangri-La experience.

The garden is huge, with six peacocks roaming freely and casually, not shying away from people. The aunt responsible for feeding the peacocks was warm and friendly, proactively sharing interesting facts about them and patiently answering the children's questions. She even gave us some naturally shed peacock feathers, which made the kids incredibly happy. Osmanthus Fragrans is even more worthwhile with people like you!

A special thanks to Karina for her dedicated and meticulous work. She was reliable, communicative, patient, and had a gentle yet responsible attitude. It was an absolute pleasure interacting with her, and the overall experience was fantastic. Highly recommended!

The environment here is great; you can walk right out to the Li River from the hotel's back entrance. An afternoon stroll by the river was incredibly pleasant! The hotel breakfast service was excellent too. It offers fantastic value for money! The views are much better than hotels in the city center. Plus, it's conveniently located, not far from any of Guilin's attractions. Highly recommend!

The room was clean and comfortable, and the service was excellent. I specifically booked this hotel for my birthday and was very happy with the arrangements! Great food, great sleep, and the hotel staff were all incredibly welcoming with excellent service. The hotel itself is large and luxurious, and the back garden is even more beautiful, you can even spot peacocks there! This is what a true five-star hotel experience should be like, highly recommend it with five stars 👍. Just a small pity that the welcome fruit was forgotten.
