Attentive hosts who served tasty breakfast in Japanese and western style. Thick cozy bedding to keep the winter chill away. Steamy hot bathing facilities. Everything clean and tidy. Go to Gujo. Stay here.

It's small ryokan in Gujo Hachiman. The river view from the room is very nice. Breakfast was traditional Japanese style and it was super good with lots of variety. Highly recommended.

The place was amazing. Super comfortable bedding and it's right on the river so you can hear the water through the night. I only wish I had gotten the breakfast as well. Bath was a bit hot for me, but still managed to get a good soak. Can't recommend this place enough.

The structure was nice to go anywhere, and the breakfast they gave me in the morning was amazing. The river view room gave me a fantastic view in the morning. I would like to go back with my parents.

We had a wonderful stay in this Ryokan, located in the heart of Gujo. The welcome was excellent and the room very comfortable with tea making facilities. Access to the baths is also very pleasant. We had a breakfast which was plentiful and delicious. The managers were attentive, they lent us umbrellas and allowed us to leave our suitcases there longer. We recommend the experience!

Very nice little hotel. I checked in late that day, but the bathroom was always reserved for me. The sound of water flowing by the river was still very loud, but the scenery was really good, and the breakfast was really great. I like this kind of Japanese hotel!

I went to the Gujo Dance Festival, but since there was no dancing on that day, I went to the Shiradori Dance instead.

Founded in the Meiji era, this Japanese-style inn was built on the site of the former domain school "Senryukan" from the late Edo era and is said to be the oldest in Gujo Hachiman, but it is a small establishment with only four rooms. We stayed in a detached room (8 tatami mats with bath and toilet) in the garden. It was a little worn out, but well kept. We ate in a private dining room in the main building. As they call themselves a ryokan, they pay special attention to each and every dish. The menu was a little ordinary, but delicious, ranging from small dishes and appetizers to sashimi, grilled mutton with yuzuan sauce, Hida beef sukiyaki, fried dishes, and grated daikon buckwheat noodles. It's close to Shinbashi, so it's not a bad location for sightseeing. Before breakfast, we enjoyed a stroll around the Igawa Path, which we hadn't been able to explore the day before.

An old wooden inn that was built on the site of a domain school and survived war damage. I believe that the house has been repeatedly renovated to improve livability, but the careful work of the old carpenters can be felt everywhere, and it is a house that reminds you of the Japanese people of the past. The view of the garden from the verandah on the first floor is wonderful, and I couldn't help but snap the shutter at the picture drawn by nature just after the autumn leaves had fallen. I was concerned because I had read a review saying that the futon was smelly, but the hallway toilet and bath were clean, and the bath in particular was a comfortable temperature. The futon was fluffy and the sheets were freshly washed and clean, so I had a good night's sleep.

Located in the castle town of Gujo Hachiman, the food was hearty and delicious. Mr. Nakai was also a pleasant person, and it was a ryokan that I would like to stay again.
