Well, It was my first time experiencing a ryokan. So for a first time ryokan experience, I need a little adjustment. The building and the facilities is very old but I understand It's part of the history. For such an old building the cleanliness is very good. I think It needs a little renovation. Just a little. To replace perhaps the faucets, or the pipes. I imagine the housekeeper must have a very hard time to clean such an old equipments. But overall I loved staying here.

The ryokan looks really authentic, it is situated upon a river so it is quite loud in the room. I booked a room with a private onsen because they don't allow entering the public onsen for people with tattoos, but I suppose if you're introverted like me, a private onsen is even better. Kaiseki diner was great, a lot of food, I couldn't finish everything. The breakfast is also an authentic Japanese one (in the third photo). I would recommend the ryokan for a visit.

My first Ryokan experience, so unable to compare but I had the best experience in this place, compared to other fancy ryokans in social media, this place is full of history and oldern day vibes, the room and the river was perfect! Would love to repeat this place again! Everything was so good

Since it was raining when we visited, the hotel offered complimentary umbrellas, which was a nice touch. We arrived before check-in time, and the staff kindly stored our luggage. When we got back, the private onsen bath was already filled with hot water and even had a warming plate, though I couldn't find the valve to turn off the hot spring water. Breakfast was very generous, but it wasn't quite to my taste. Overall, it's a great option if you're looking to experience a traditional Japanese accommodation.

It's quite old, but for this price in Hakone, it's considered low. Facilities: Pretty old. Cleanliness: Just so-so. Environment: Decent, passable. Service: Japanese service is always good. Dinner - Japanese Cuisine: I personally didn't like the breakfast and dinner at all. I don't eat raw fish, so I cooked the sashimi in hot water and it tasted good. The large red fish was really terrible, but all the other foreigners ate it up. Only our Chinese group, when the dish was served, ate only white rice and fresh beef and vegetables, because we needed to fill our stomachs and there was nothing to buy around at night.

Traditional style; we booked a room with private outdoor onsen. We tried both private onsen and communal onsen but honestly the water in communal ones was hotter, if you don’t mind sharing the onsen with others. The dinner set and breakfast set were excellent! The room and common facilities were clean and tidy, and I don’t feel they were worn. Although the staff (the receptionist) might not be good in English speaking, they tried their best and used mobile app translator to explain to us patiently the rules and arrangements for our stay. For us, the price is reasonable with such high quality of service and facilities!

The service was fantastic! They asked about our check-in time and even filled the private hot spring tub in advance, covering it with an insulated board to keep the water warm. However, the public onsen had an even more invigorating water temperature – it really hit the spot! The room itself was very spacious, and the view of the rushing river outside the window was quite therapeutic. The two meals provided were ample enough for a satisfying feed.
