Room was really nice and clean! Has tatami floor, a table to drink the free tea given, inside has a basin for washing up(but no toilet or shower in room, must use the shared one outside), slept on a foldable mattress with nice and thick blanket and pillows! Onsen was awesome! 2 venues and completely private so you can lock the door and occupy the place. Has an outdoor hot spring too across the roa but didn’t went cos it was raining. A few notes though: 1. No elevator, the stairs are quite steep so be prepared to carry your luggage’s and bags up. 2. Limited food options nearby 3. There is 4 free parking slots only 4. The hotel is on the older side, so if you like going for the OG historic experience this is good, but if you like only new facilities then maybe reconsider

Perfect room. Beautiful onsen. Friendly staff. We had everything. The city is very beautiful but there's not much to do. Great place for a getaway though.

It was dark around the hotel at night, making it a bit of a trek to get there. The facilities inside, especially the hot spring (alkaline), were quite strong and had excellent effects, I thought. I found the pillows in the room too soft, which made it hard to sleep.

A wonderful little hotel! Very cozy rooms, an excellent onsen, and excellent transportation links—the train station and bus stop are nearby.

We loved this hotel; it's much cuter in person than in the photos. Everything was very clean and well-maintained. They have private bathrooms, two inside and two outside. They were very clean and had everything you need (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hairdryer, etc.). We had no problem using them since there was always one available. You could hear a little noise from the other rooms, but the guests were respectful. The staff was very helpful as well. You can borrow slippers, yukatas (these are also for using the outdoor bathroom), umbrellas, and have hot or cold water and tea. The room had a table, a small balcony with a refrigerator, another table by the window, and a sink. We weren't cold at all since there were plenty of blankets and an air conditioner. There was also a television and a dehumidifier, although we didn't use them. Some reviews mention that the location isn't great or that there aren't any restaurants nearby. For us, the location was perfect since it's well-connected, just a 2-minute walk from the bus and train stops. There was a small but delicious and reasonably priced restaurant right across the street that was open until 10 pm. Considering it was one of the cheapest options in Hakone for those dates, and with the possibility of enjoying a private onsen, we thought it was a very good deal.

The hotel's facilities are relatively simple and outdated. The room does not have a bathroom, only a washbasin, but no hot water. The temperature in March was so cold that the tap water was too cold to brush teeth or wash face. The lighting in the room was also very uncomfortable. The hotel is located in a very remote area and there are no restaurants nearby (15 minutes drive). If you are not traveling by car, it is recommended not to choose this hotel.

Japanese family hotel. Sleep on tatami. The problem is that the toilet is inconvenient downstairs. Sound insulation is too poor. I was disturbed by a group of Japanese people next door and couldn't sleep well. I won’t stay again without contacting you.

Directions from the station exit. Walk up the hill on the left hand side for a couple of minutes. You will see a liquor store and food store. Turn left into this street. There is a little shrine on the corner and the Manten No Hoshi is a couple of doors down on the left. We stayed three nights and found it to be good value. Our room was on the ground floor. Consider this if you have mobility issues or heavy cases. Stairs are a little steep. Also there is no male toilet on the upper floor. We received a warm welcome on arrival. The reception area provides various amenities such as microwaves and hot water to make tea in your room. Hot baths were wonderful to relax in. WiFi was good too. The room had a fridge and sink. This is tradition Japanese accommodation. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
