Hakone Suishoen

This time, I brought my parents for a vacation, and after looking at many hotels, we finally settled on Suishoen. It was absolutely the right choice! The room was very new and spacious, with a private onsen inside. A stream flowed just outside the balcony, and we enjoyed soaking in the hot spring while listening to the sound of the flowing water. The mini-bar offered a great variety of new drinks and snacks. My parents soaked in the onsen twice a day, and their skin improved noticeably. On the first day, we chose the Kaiseki dinner, and every dish was impeccable. On the second day, we went for Teppanyaki, and my mom raved about it; it truly lived up to Michelin standards. There's a Lawson convenience store right outside the hotel, and a 7-Eleven about 500 meters away. We bought the Hakone Free Pass, and the hotel even dropped us off at the train station. We took the mountain train, the ropeway, and the pirate ship – we experienced it all! This Hakone trip was very satisfying!

We were not informed that dinner reservations needed to be made 24 hours in advance. The room service options were terrible. I spoke with the reception, but nothing was done about it. The breakfast service was good with good staff. However, I do not recommend this hotel. They don't know how to treat a guest at a 5-star level.

The place was spotless, the environment was beautiful, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Even though English wasn't their strong suit, they used translation apps effectively to communicate. We weren't aware they offered a pick-up service, so we took a taxi there. However, they kindly provided a drop-off service to the station when we left. They also patiently explained which station had luggage lockers, as we were planning to move on to a different location the next day. If we hadn't already made other plans, staying two nights would have been ideal. The dining experience felt like a hotel's set course meal. While dinner was a little slow, the overall experience was excellent, and the dining staff were all wonderful. We also had pleasant encounters with local Japanese people in the public baths; they were very friendly. One even waited outside to recommend some ice cream to us! Overall, I had a fantastic impression of Hakone.

Absolutely exceeded my expectations! The hotel is stunning, and the rooms were incredibly spacious and comfortable – even better than the photos on the app. The restaurant also served excellent food, though you absolutely need to book in advance. The service was impeccable. Highly recommend!

The hotel offers superb ingredients and thoughtfully prepared meals for guests. Breakfast is Japanese-style, and the Teppanyaki dinner comes highly recommended. This is a charming, small-scale hotel with a convenient location. My only minor drawbacks were the somewhat impractical bathroom layout and the underwhelming view from the onsen.

Cleanliness: Spotless. Environment: Surrounded by lush forest. Service: Excellent. Facilities: Well-equipped, I particularly enjoyed the hot spring bath.
