Hakone is located in the southwestern part of Kanagawa Prefecture, about 90 kilometers from Tokyo. Within Japan, Hakone is known for its hot springs. The Owakudani Museum of Natural Science is now open as well where the terrain of Hakone is introduced to visitors through the use of slides and models. There are also cable cars, mountaineering trams, and aerial cranes that enable you tour Hakone from all angles. The Hakone seven hot springs are located at the Hakone Check Point on the east bank of Lake Ashi. It is a wooden bungalow with an area of 198 square meters, which is a checkpoint set by the shogunate in the Edo period. There are more than 1,000 cultural relics such as ID cards, guns, and long-handled swords. The statues of the inspectors are also listed as important cultural relics.
