Our first impressions of the building and the surroundings were lovely. There are shops, pharmacy, an outside play area for children and a pool on the top floor - however we didn’t get a chance to use it. This all changed when we entered the apartment. There was a bad smell coming from the bathroom, no hand soap and a dirty bath mat. In addition to this there was a hole in the bathroom ceiling where you could see the pipe work and electric wires. In the living room, theres a tv where you can access Netflix if you have an account which was great however the sofa was extremely small and uncomfortable as well as the beds , which were rock hard. We had looked past these issues as we wanted to enjoy our brief stay in Ha Long Bay. What really spoilt our stay was the fact that there was an internet connected camera in the living room that was recording us. My wife and I hadn’t noticed it at first. It was our 14 year old daughter who had pointed it as it was moving and following her movements. To make thing even worse, there was NO hot water! Which we wasn’t informed off at the time. When we contacted the landlord regarding the hot water and the camera, she suggested we use a neighbours apartment to have a shower as the hot water has not been working in that apartment for a while- This was highly inappropriate and disrespectful as we paid for full use of the apartment and it’s a amenities. After going back and forth for some time, the landlord suggested we could have another another apartment which would have been better. But, by that time we had lost trust as we did not know what to expect or if there would be other secret cameras in the apartment. After going back and forth we stated we would be checking out, she said she can now get us a room after saying she did not have anymore previously. We refused due to the reasons above coupled with the lies and untrustworthiness. We checked out the same day and moved to another hotel which was brilliant. We requested a refund due to all the issues and she flatly refused. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone let alone a dog.
