New Star Halong Hotel

Stayed for one night as part of an Explore! tour in December 2025. We arrived at the hotel in the evening after spending most of the day in Hanoi. Check-in was quick and the lifts worked well. My room was a good size and, even though I was staying solo, it would be fine for a couple staying with big suitcases. The fixtures and fittings were relatively new, e.g. flat screen TV, modern safe etc. The bed was large and comfortable, and the desk, chair, arm chair and table were clean. The air con did work, although I didn't need it for a one night stay. I slept well and didn't hear any noise from adjoining rooms. The bathroom was clean and modern with a walk-in shower, sink, toilet and toiletries. The wifi was a bit patchy and I ended up sticking with mobile internet most of the time. Breakfast was at the top of the hotel, and it was then we could see the view of the hills and the start of the bay. The selection of food was okay although some areas were a bit lacking. The juices also weren't great, nor were the tea and coffee from what others said, but it was enough to start the day before getting something else. Overall, a good stay - a nice hotel, with helpful staff that's well located in the town.
