Hangzhou Hua Jia Shan Resort

1️⃣ Huajia Mountain Villa is a well-established hotel by West Lake, boasting an excellent location. As a local, I stayed for a two-night city getaway and truly believe that staying by West Lake is the best way to experience it. The hotel grounds are lush with trees and offer beautiful scenery, especially charming in spring. It's within walking distance to Yuhu Bay, Su Causeway, and Prince Bay. 2️⃣ The hotel often hosts conferences and receptions, and it's also a great choice for weddings. The breakfast is particularly commendable, with dishes neatly presented and expertly prepared by the chefs. Overall, it's very refined and thoughtfully done. 3️⃣ Our rooms, 2306 and 2307, were in Building 2, Azalea Tower, with garden views. We booked two rooms for three people. The facilities are a bit dated; the TV cable in room 06 needed repair, and the hairdryer in room 07 was an old model. While I don't expect a renovation, it would be great if the hotel could invest a little effort in upgrading the equipment. I highly recommend Huajia as a wonderful place to stay when visiting West Lake. 4️⃣ [Avoid this!] The hotel's travel photography partner, photographer Xiao Jie from Xiaowan Travel Photography, provided a very unpleasant experience. Here’s why: 1) At the scheduled time and location, the photographer was unreachable and nowhere to be found. 2) As a hotel travel photographer, the goal should be to capture the hotel's unique features, justifying the hotel's partnership. However, the photographer failed to choose distinctive backdrops. 3) The most frustrating part was being constantly directed to take photos on large asphalt roads! Asphalt roads! Seriously! The final photos were all half road, and despite all the effort, not a single one was kept! Comrade Xiao Jie, do you honestly think that in such a beautiful place as Huajia, taking pictures on asphalt roads looks good???!!! The circular framing didn't even consider obstacles like nearby chairs, resulting in mediocre effects, and the pose guidance was basically just 'spin your skirt.' I was traveling with my parents, so the guidance wasn't very helpful. Following a routine is fine, but please be more dedicated. 4) After purchasing the edited photos, I provided two rounds of revision feedback, but I didn't notice any color adjustments based on my suggestions. 5) Almost none of the shots captured the main building's distinctive large roof or the garden landscape towards Dongpo Tower, which I consider the hotel's most unique features. The close-up landscape shots could have been taken in any residential compound in Hangzhou. [They failed to capture Huajia's unique character, lacked skill and guidance, and the overall process felt half-hearted!] 6) After selecting the photos, the photographer, who was busy, ran back briefly. Upon hearing that I initially didn't want to buy the edited photos, he immediately ran off, leaving my family of three stranded! He didn't even explain how the photos would be sent. Later, when I agreed to buy the edited photos, we waited for him for about an hour, which could have been avoided if he had simply communicated how to send them instead of making us wait aimlessly! 7) I've participated in at least a dozen, if not dozens, of hotel photo shoots, and this was by far the worst! And then he had the nerve to ask for good reviews and praise! I was utterly speechless! [I strongly suggest that Huajia replace this travel photography partner and find a new collaboration! It would lead to much better promotional results!]

The Huajiashan Villa, built in 1958, served as a provincial guesthouse for foreign affairs, hosting dignitaries in a secluded and tranquil setting. It currently comprises Main Building 1 (Osmanthus Building) with balcony rooms, Building 2 (Azalea Building) with garden-view rooms, Building 3 (Narcissus Building), a new building with an executive lounge, and VIP Building 8. The villa is situated beside Yuguhu Bay on Santai Mountain Road, on the former site of Huiyin Temple (Goryeo Temple), originally built by Qian Liu during the Wu-Yue kingdom. Su Shi frequently visited when he served in Hangzhou. In 1996, during construction, a Ming Dynasty stone statue of Su Dongpo was unearthed at the site of the original temple's monastic hall, leading to the construction of Dongpo Pavilion. Emperor Qianlong, during his southern tour, once penned the line "Liuhuagang below Huajiashan," from which the name "Huajiashan" originated. I booked a balcony room package through Trip.com and was given room 1223 in the main building. It was spacious with a great view from the terrace, overlooking the restaurant, coffee bar, and lawn. The hotel is several hundred meters from the main gate, but a shuttle service is available. All staff members were polite and greeted guests proactively. There's no underground parking, but surface parking is fine on non-holiday weekdays. The all-day dining restaurant, Xinxingge, offers good views of the lawn. The breakfast buffet features a rich selection of Chinese and Western dishes. I didn't try lunch or dinner. They also offer afternoon tea, à la carte cakes, and coffee. I ordered coffee and three cakes, which were advertised as freshly made, but after a 20-minute wait, they turned out to be frozen.

The hotel is secluded with a beautiful environment. The food is unique. The family suite has a 1.8m king bed and two 1.2m twin beds, along with little yellow duck-themed toiletries and a small tent, which the kids absolutely loved. Crucially, the mattress was just the right firmness, making for a very comfortable sleep. The room also had a dehumidifier, perfect for rainy days. We received a complimentary fruit platter, and my child especially enjoyed the goldenberries. It's very close to West Lake, and the hotel itself has Cui Lake surrounded by lush greenery, which is incredibly therapeutic. We'll definitely be back.

This place has an amazing, almost spiritual vibe. As someone with a sensitive constitution, I could immediately feel the natural energy here, which was incredibly refreshing. Every day, I'd go to the hotel's Yagu Spring to collect water for tea, enjoying a wonderfully leisurely time. The hotel advertises itself as a place where Jin Yong once stayed, but I'd suggest everyone use AI to do a quick historical check. You'll be surprised by what you find! Let's just say this is a truly auspicious place that has become accessible to ordinary folks. Breakfast was delicious, plentiful, and thoughtfully prepared. They even upgraded my room. I do have two suggestions, though: Firstly, try to avoid coming when there are large events happening (the ground floor lobby can get quite noisy). Secondly, if you're particular about room size, make sure to choose a suitable room type (their smallest room is really only suitable for one person).

This hotel has a lovely courtyard with a lawn and a lake, offering a beautiful environment. The Chinese restaurant is also quite impressive, serving delicious food. It's a rather low-key hotel, and I only discovered its hidden gems after checking in. The location is excellent too. I'll definitely be staying here again next time!

During the Qingming Festival holiday, when West Lake was incredibly crowded, Huajiashanzhuang truly offered an instant escape from the hustle and bustle. I'd definitely come back for a longer stay if I get the chance. **Environment:** Lush green mountains, birds chirping, and greenery everywhere. Waking up to the sound of birds every morning was wonderful. The soundproofing is excellent; even with a full house, it never felt noisy. **Facilities:** Both the hotel breakfast and the Chinese restaurant are fantastic. You can enjoy delicious Jiangnan dim sum without having to battle the crowds outside. Dining outdoors on the lawn in early spring was very pleasant. The Longjing tea in the room's minibar was plentiful, and my 3-year-old's first order of business every morning was to sit on the balcony and make tea! The kids' play area was also a big hit with my child. **Service:** Warm and attentive. We had to wait a long time for our room during peak check-in, but the front desk staff kept us updated throughout. **Transportation:** The traffic restrictions during the holiday made it very inconvenient to get a taxi to the hotel, which was the most frustrating part of the trip. We had to squeeze onto public buses to get back to the hotel.

This hotel is nestled in a tranquil part of the West Lake scenic area, and the beauty of its surroundings truly exceeded my expectations. In the mornings, you wake up to birdsong, and the garden is filled with the scent of osmanthus flowers, not to mention a stunning emerald-green pond. The rooms are also very elegant, and the service is incredibly attentive. On my first day in Hangzhou, it was raining, so I had dinner at the hotel restaurant. The local dishes were authentic and absolutely delicious! Highly recommend!

The location is excellent! It's within walking distance to Yuguwan and Prince Bay, yet it's very quiet, without the usual tourist hustle and bustle. The environment is lovely, and the view from the window is fantastic. We had breakfast and dinner at Restaurant No. 1, and the quality and taste were consistently good. A special thank you goes to the shuttle drivers/security guards at the entrance of Narcissus Building. They promptly stopped a hit-and-run driver who was attempting to leave after scratching our car and notified us so we could return and handle the situation. Such dedicated service truly lives up to the standard of a foreign affairs reception!

The room facilities are quite old. The hotel is split into several buildings for accommodation and dining, which was a bit inconvenient to get around due to the rain. The soundproofing isn't great, the shower pipe was leaking, and there were no welcome fruits. Breakfast was decent, and the travel photographer, Ah Zhe, did a pretty good job with the quick photoshoot.
