Reviews of Golden Sail Hotel & Spa

The location of the hotel is very good. It is located in 36 Old Town Street. 36 Old Town Street is one of the famous attractions in Hanoi. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the hotel to Hoan Kiem Lake, if you don't see the inner streets in the old town. It takes less than 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to Train Street, if Google positioning is accurate. In addition, this place is two blocks away from Bar Street. People who like nightlife will not miss it. The hotel room was spacious. Maybe because the room type we wanted was not available, we were given a family room. Since the hotel only has more than 10 rooms, the breakfast is not as rich as other hotels. It only has one or two hot foods, toasts, fruits and drinks. Even eggs are not provided. If you like a rich buffet breakfast, please pay attention.

The photos on the booking websites are not indicative of the actual rooms we got. The whole hotel looks and feels in need of an upgrade. The bathroom was not as clean as I would like and the towels felt damp on arrival. The air con was very ineffective in the room. The breakfast area is very small and there was no space to sit when we went down for breakfast either morning. The location is good and central, but this brings with it more noise. A very average hotel, which could be so much improved with a thorough clean and a lick of paint! I would not recommend.

I saw a rat in the lobby, which smelled of sewage. The air conditioner was on a timer. There was tons of noise in the lobby in the middle of the night and the staff did not silence them. We found a cockroach in our suitcase after checking out. I would not stay here again.

Great location, the staff members were very helpful. The manager, Mr. Jack Son was very helpful and helped me book my trips to Halong Bay as well as day trip to Ninh Binh… the hotel itself is a little old and hence the rooms are not as modern. However, they are clean and spacious. The hotel is bang in the middle of Hoan Kiem ( Old Quarters) and has many good places to eat and shop and drink close by.

Don’t stay here- simple Construction drilliling, and I mean loud, everyday from 8am until 5pm Impossible to stay in your very small room for any period of time Even breakfast is deafening Management did not tell us if this at all pre booking- scandalous Just stay elsewhere

Never gonna visit this hotel again. Worst experience ever. Was sleeping in my room and another guest was opening my hotel room. After Talking to the reception. They just Said sorry, it was a mistake. A mistake Like that can’t be happening in a hotel. After this experience I wouldn’t recommend someone else to visit this hotel. The imagination that some random people could be in my hotel room when I was away .. just horrible. Can’t trust this hotel.

One of the most terrible hotels I have been to. The rooms are dark and narrow, my room had only an internal window. There was construction next to the hotel with noise from early in the morning until late. The breakfast was triste. I do not understand why there a so many good reviews about Golden Sail Hotel. I would not recommend at all.

Amazing management, amazing hotel, amazing room, amazing service, amazing location, amazing staff. Liked · What did I like? Where do I start. From my arrival at the airport Jack had sent me a message about arranging transport, but I had already jumped in a taxi, but it was the fact he was checking my movements made me felt that he cared. The following day, he checked on me at breakfast (I'll come back to that) and was wanting to assist with tours and visits. I did book the city tour with him and it was amazing, by the time the tour cam round (Thursday), I had already walked most of the Old Quarter and surrounding areas (Tuesday and Wednesday), but I had missed some stuff and this covered off the check list. Breakfast was a FEAST, normally I would get a "continental" breakfast, but this was a full on Vietnamese breakfast and you could order either scrambled eggs, omlette's or anything at no extra charge. The staff were polite and keen to help. Jack again was amazing and keen to help with everything. I do recommend arranging airport transfers with him, as it was cheaper than jumping in a taxi. The room was perfect for what I needed, out during the day exploring, then a shower (maybe a nap), then out at night. On that note, the location of the Golden Sails is PERFECT. Right in the heart of the Old Quarter, "drinking alley" which I liked to called it was out of the hotel, turn right, right again and you're there. Go further a field down the streets and alley ways offer so much more. The Street Train is a mere 18 minutes walk away, I highly recommend you do that, best to go on a Sunday from 6pm. So overall, I can't recommend The Golden Sails enough, I plan to go back one day, go further afield with my tours, but I will book with Jack and his hotel again. Thank you Jack. Disliked · Nothing, well, the coffee cups could have been bigger but I'm from Australia/New Zealand and we like our coffee, but this is the Vietnamese way. The only "slight" issue I had was the is some construction to the right of the hotel and it goes from Monday to Saturday and disturbed me once or twice. But that will obviously be completed soon, and it's out of Jack's control.

Is okay for price range, but there’s definitely others in the old quarter that might be a littttle bit better. Friendly service and hotel staff helped us book taxi to airport. Breakfast is okay - small buffet option or you can order a few different things. Didn’t seem to have a good variety of of gluten free / vegan options at breakfast. There was a giant cockroach in our room above our door that was hard to look past. Stayed here as part of a group of 3 with 2 rooms. Upon arrival we received a welcome drink and the owner couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly along with his staff. Offered to help us book the Ha Giang Loop which we had done already prior to arrival. 5* service and the rooms had English Plugs which was great too!

We really enjoyed our time in the Old town Hanoi. Golden Sail staff were fantastic and went out of their way to ensure we had a good stay. Breakfast was really good. The location was perfect for exploring the area. The street was noisy but our room was surprisingly quiet. We would return.

The hotel entrance is right in the middle of construction debris from the adjacent building (noise from 7 am) and overflowing garbage containers… gloomy. The breakfast was awful (cold spring rolls swimming in oil, undrinkable coffee). The manager should warn guests about the construction work beforehand instead of coming to your room at checkout asking for a 10/10 rating…! For the €80 I paid, there are magnificent hotels all around… forget this one!

Expectations were higher, and this sometimes significantly affects the final rating. The room smelled of smoke. Very superficial cleaning. Hair, dirty floor, and the smell of smoke. Central location, very friendly staff. Fair prices for both exchange and excursions. Highly recommended.

Beautiful spacious room with French balcony, right in the middle of the highlights of Hanoi, everything within walking distance. But in a quiet street. Good extensive breakfast, various egg options, pancakes, etc. on request. Plenty of options to book a tour. Also transport to Dinh Minh .halong Bay etc
