I’ve used Trip.com many times in China without issues, but this Harbin stay (Dec 26–30, 2025) was a complete disaster and nothing like the listing.
The building felt unsafe and neglected from the first minute: the entrance area was partially under water and, at Harbin winter temperatures, covered with frozen, slippery ice. To make it worse, there was a power outage, so the entrance and common areas were literally in the dark.
Getting to the apartment was another ordeal. The elevator was also run-down and dirty, and it wouldn’t reliably go up because the elevator door did not close properly unless someone from the outside helped to push it shut completely (yes, really). That’s not a “minor inconvenience” — it’s serious poor maintenance and a safety concern.
The entire floor where the apartment is located was shabby and dirty. The apartment itself was visibly run-down, with multiple damages to walls and corners, and overall in poor condition — far from what the photos and description suggested.
What made it even more frustrating: it took a long time to find anyone responsible or reachable to even get access and basic help. In the end, the staff from the Manhattan Hotel (a completely different business — and noticeably better managed) were the only reason we got any assistance at all. The person in charge was only available then, 15 minutes later!
After leaving, I submitted a formal complaint and full refund request with photo evidence. I received no meaningful response and no proper handling of the case.
Bottom line: dirty, run-down, poorly maintained, and misrepresented. I would strongly avoid this property unless Trip.com can prove it has been properly fixed and professionally managed — and unless their support actually responds when things go wrong.
