Probably our favourite place to stay in our 2-week holiday, with the best food and warmest welcome. Shinko-San was very friendly and welcoming. She kindly annotated a local map and advised us on what to see on Miyajima, as well as what times the low and high tides were to see the torii gate. Go and see the torii gate at sunset - the gate is floodlit so we got stunning photos there. All the day trippers had gone home so it was nice and quiet. Miyajima itself is such a lovely island, with a great shopping street full of places to eat, including street food, and a shop selling Studio Ghibli items which was perfect for my daughter. We did the cable car up Mount Misen, did the final walk up to the top, then walked all the way down. Beautiful and peaceful. The food here was extremely tasty, presented beautifully, and Shinko-San explained what everything was, and how to eat it. She wanted to make sure that we all liked it and substituted items for our son when there were ingredients that he didn’t eat. We especially enjoyed the tofu dishes and the fried oysters (you can see the oyster beds when you are on the ferry over to the island). Highly recommend the Japanese-style breakfast - the best breakfasts we had in 2 weeks. We stayed in a Japanese-style room (4 people) and there was 1 shower and 2 toilets in there, which was good. The futons were very comfortable, and we had a lovely view of the water. The bathroom that had the shower and toilet was quite cramped but it was fine for the 2 nights that we stayed there. We loved our stay here, and would definitely recommend it.

This is a fabulous place to stay with lovely staff and wonderful food. I have rarely felt so welcome! The hotel is ideally situated close to the ferry and it’s only a short walk to see all the main sights. But the food and the warm welcome are the stars of the show

We went twice to this restaurant during our tour to Miyayima. It is a small restaurant with a vegetarian/ vegan option, not very common in Japan though. The waiter told us how the food was supposed to be eaten and all the stuff was very friendly and kind. I can recommend this restaurant not only for vegetarians but for everyone. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars.

Really friendly and helpful owner. We were made to feel welcome. The room was traditional, comfortable and clean. Breakfast and dinner was exceptionally good with a range of delicious courses. The best Japanese meal so far.

If you're ever going to stay at Miyajima, please stay here. You won't regret it. The host Shinko-san is the loveliest lady you will ever meet and she will cater to dietary requirements such as vegetarianism. I never wanted to leave! The rooms are lovely and so comfortable, and the hospitality is second to none.

We arrived in Miyajima on 26 October and spent two nights at the delightful Yamaichi Bekkann. Shinko, the lady who runs this is possibly their nicest host we have ever stayed with, anywhere. She speaks broken English but had long chats with my wife. She has a permanent smile and just exudes happiness and loveliness - a real inspiration. We stayed two nights with breakfast and dinner included. The food is amazingly good. All home cooked and fresh. Some of the best meals we had in Japan. Yamaichi Beckon is diagonally opposite the ferry and a short walk to the UNESCO shrines. There are a couple of big hotels nearby but we are so glad we stayed at Yamaichi Bekkan. I cannot recommend this place enough. Even if you cannot stay here, then you must eat here. You won't regret it. We travelled with Inside Japan company who recommended it.

Unique location in Miyajima (on the port), warm welcome by the owner and her son, an anthology dinner! Possibility of a continental breakfast (to change from the Japanese breakfast). In short, if you want to enjoy the calm of the evening on the island, this is an ideal base!

Visited for lunch and not to stay overnight. Simply amazing oyster based menu. Serve boiled, grilled, and beautifully tempura fried. Then oyster soup, oyster rice. A truly unforgettable lunch!
