Great environment, good breakfast and dinner

We had a lovely stay. The game drive was excellent and we were fortunate to see the Big Five. The food was great and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The pool wasn’t quite warm enough, but we really enjoyed the jacuzzi section.

Had the most incredible experience from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed on arrival, and the exceptional service continued right through to the moment we left. The food was outstanding ,from delicious breakfasts to beautifully prepared three-course dinners, every meal was a highlight. The game drives were, of course, the standout. Our ranger, Dewald, kept us laughing and smiling the entire time. He truly went above and beyond to ensure we saw as much wildlife as possible and created a memorable experience for us. An unforgettable weekend. As Dewald says, “safari is not in your eyes, but in your heart.”

We saw all the animas with the exception of the cheetah (which makes sense). We spent 2 nights here for our honeymoon and had a great time. We thought the food was great, my husband is a vegan/vegetarian and enjoyed the menu. Lunch is not included. WiFi is not great, I only mention this because he had work that needed to be completed and was unable to do so. Our guide “Snacks” was very knowledge and passionate about animals which was fantastic.

Cant recommend the garden route game lodge enough. All the staff were wonderful and incredibly helpful and smiling through the pouring rain. Big shout out to Dewald who was our Game drive guide, couldn't have had more fun on the drive, his stories, insight, and instincts made it a truly unique and special experience. Truly, the bigger your group is the more fun it is, I was so lucky to experience the garden route game lodge with a large group of friends and we will all always remember the time we had there. The owners should be so proud of what they've built here, and the environment/atmosphere that they've fostered.

We stayed at Garden Route Game Lodge and unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing safari experiences we’ve had. The safari itself was extremely underwhelming. The number of animals we saw was shockingly limited only two hippos, two elephants, and two ostriches. We didn’t even see giraffes, which is quite basic for any safari experience. It is honestly hard to understand how this can be considered a proper safari. For us, it felt like a complete letdown. For a lodge charging around $700 per night, we expected a far richer and more authentic wildlife experience. What we received was nowhere near the value promised or expected at this price point. As for the food, we had clearly informed the lodge in advance about our requirement for halal meals. Despite that, the options were extremely limited. Lunch and dinner were below average, lacking both variety and quality, while breakfast was the only acceptable meal. Overall, the experience did not justify the price at all. The safari was very disappointing, and the overall standard of the lodge was below expectations. We would not recommend it for anyone expecting a genuine safari experience.

It was a good experience,It worth to visit. The stay was very nice and the restaurant was so good. The staff was so helpful and knowledgeable. I wish the had more animals , we saw a few of them almost 8 .

Wonderful game reserve. Food is very good. Staff was very attentive and the game drive guide was outstanding. I have seen reviews which mention that this is like a large zoo. This is not the case. The reserve is about 15 square miles and the animals are not fed by the staff. The predators must hunt for their food. Highly recommend visiting.

I was there for the second time and the experience was great again. While other logdes did not even answer, Garden Route Game Lodge made it possible. Thanks a lot and hope to see you soon again.

WOW. What an incredible experience. With it being right on the N2 and something I drive past fairly often I was not expecting anything near the level of what lay inside. From the amazing guides and staff to the stunning chalets and reserve the Garden Route Game Lodge really ticked all the boxes. Could not recommend this extraordinary getaway enough everyone out there!!
