Hekla Cabin 1 Volcano and Glacier View
4.7/52 Reviews
There are three independent cabins in the world. You can see the warm lights from a long distance. It is not too difficult to find it. Almost brand new furniture and supplies, the heating turned on in advance, a complete set of kitchen pots and spices, sufficient bath water and fluffy duvets, what else can soothe the traveler's body and mind more than all these? And we also photographed the first aurora after coming to Iceland :)
Farmer's Guest House

This was found and booked by my wife. What an amazing place. Its basically a working farm with sheep and horses. In the morning my family saw a sheepdog herding the sheep around. And the friendly horses joined us for a foto opportunity. They have 3 cottages and also a farm house for rent. The farmhouse is 100+ years old. Built in the old way. And I think a great choice. It was roomy enough for 5 adults but still felt cozy and homey. The cellar has a washing machine. 1st floor has living room and kitchen and a toilet. Kitchen was great and fully stocked. It has even a rice cooker!! Amazing. We bought along our own food and cooked there. 2nd floor we have 4 bedrooms and a bathroom. 1 downside is the small bathroom and for 8 could be a bit lacking. Also being an old house...was bit scary for me. Had bad experience in another rental. But no such thing here. The rest it’s a great stay and highly recommended. But be warned. No street lighting in Iceland. So at night it gets really dark and hard to find the way.

Location is easy to find and outdoor bath. Simple kitchen with two stoves. Still very nice and clean. The refrigerator simply keeps it cold, not freezing. Full breakfast, traditional continental breakfast.

Welcome Riverside Guesthouse

Aurora Igloo
4.6/57 Reviews
We are really disappointed at the stay of the Aurora Igloo as it didn’t mention that there’s no toilet inside the room. We have to walk for 100m outside to get the bathroom as the winter is so cold and windy in December. Moreover, the hotel heater isn’t working really well, so we didn’t stay for the second night. As we have spoken to the owner, he says that we are able to receive refund in to my card. Thank you.
