Lavender Manor Guest Lodge

A little tired but great location and comfortable.

Arrival feels quiet and underwhelming; a residential road, no one around, but don’t be put off. Rooms were minimal but excellent, and breakfast was a pleasant surprise. Grotto Beach is a couple of minutes’ walk, phenomenal for a morning walk, with easy access to the coastal path. Ficks restaurant nearby is a must, if slightly tucked away. Felt very safe, even after dark. No real pool, so skip it if that matters to you.

We stayed at Lavender Manor from 4–6 August as a family group of seven (five adults and two children) and had a wonderful experience. Our three rooms were spacious, comfortable and came with a well‑stocked minibar, which was a lovely touch. Kobus welcomed us on arrival and even carried my very heavy suitcase up the stairs — such thoughtful hospitality. Breakfast each morning was delicious, with a great choice of hot and cold options. My husband was particularly delighted with the rolls! As someone from the UK who enjoys a proper breakfast tea, I have to say that Marelise makes an exceptional pot of tea — genuinely the best one of our entire trip. The nearby beach was perfect for a morning walk, and we really enjoyed exploring Hermanus during our stay. Lavender Manor offered comfort, kindness and great service throughout, and we would happily recommend it to others visiting the area.

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago, room was ok in a nice spot, if I’d known it was that far from the main part of hermanus I wouldn’t have booked it. Great honesty mini bar, it all looked in need of a refurbishment. The breakfast was ok a bit lukewarm and uninteresting.

I had an amazing experience with my stay. I had a beautiful sea view room and was whale watching in the evening as well as in the morning when I woke up. Had a beautiful breakfast with my colleague and that set us up for our day. Absolutely amazing !!

Well situated, only 5-10 minutes drive of the city. Just near by the famous beach were you can see whales (we’ve seen 3 of them from the wonderfull terrace rooftop of the house. The host is very nice and the family room is really really comfortable and clean (with heaters in each room we appreciated, not so common in South africa!) I recommand definitly the lavender Manor!

Room with Mountainview ok and clean. Petra helped us book a whale watching tour and when we asked if we could have a late checkout due to a late flight she said room was already booked but we could stay and use facilities until we were ready to leave. At Breakfast another lady served us(name began with M). when we asked for more than 1 slice of toast each she was most put out and said if we really wanted it she could do some more but wasnt the 2 slices enough? We went on our whale watching trip then back to the hotel to check out. We put our bags in reception and used loungers by the outdoor pool. M made us feel unwelcome and kept asking when we were leaving. Why don't we go for lunch or what time were we being picked up. We told her Petra said we could use facilities until we were leaving around 2.30. She said she didnt want us there when the new guests were arriving at 2pm and asked us to take our bags. Very disappointed with her attitude and making us feel unwelcome. Location good.

So happy I found Lavender Guest Lodge for my 4-days stay at the end of my Namibia & South Africa travels: friendly hosts, a delicious breakfast and the most beautiful and spacious rooms. Loved it!
