Sadly Chateau Clery is underwhelming. It is tired and needs a little TLC. It needs to be better maintained and regularly cleaned. Our room 105 was dirty, had a cracked sink, leaking shower and no TV that worked. Their restaurant was very limited and only opened at the weekend, but the choice of menu was 3 starters, 3 mains and 2 desserts and the menu wasn’t changed daily. Breakfast was just about ok, but if you got down at 9am don’t expect a full selection to be available, as supplies weren’t topped up. Once it was gone, it was gone almost rationed. It looked very much like to us that it was being run on a shoestring. There are other and better properties to choose from, so do your homework so you won’t be disappointed as we were.

Stayed here with our family of 6 adults for 2 nights. We booked 3 Deluxe rooms. Upon arrival in the very nicely situated hotel we discovered that there can be a huge difference between rooms. First we were shown 2 rooms in the “Fermette” which were very nice indeed although one (room 27) was a lot larger than the other (Room 25). Rooms 20-24 are also lovely. The third room, room 30, was all the way at the front of the property in a nook beside the main road, it had a low ceiling and had an eery, damp atmosphere and frankly we were surprised that it fell into the same category as the other rooms. The receptionist was quite understanding and accommodating though and arranged another room, this one situated in the main building which was quite satisfactory. Staff was overall more than helpful, we were struggling with a blown car tire and they helped us enormously finding the right place to get things fixed quickly. When staying there, book a table in L’Ilot Vert in Boulogne sur Mer, best restaurant in the area with extremely kind and helpful staff.

The outside of the Chateau is lovely we booked a superior room paying extra to find it was under a staircase to the 2nd floor so it was VERY noisy as people went up and down the stairs avoid Room102 spoke to receptionist about this who wasn’t interested at all, he said “that’s unfortunate “ Which is not the reply you expect due to language barrier couldn’t get much further with Him didn’t offer an alternative or anything Restaurant is ok food very 1980’s in presentation and dated choices I felt it was expensive for what you got Overall we were disappointed

Booked a superior room to find it was under a staircase to the 2nd floor so noisy as everyone went to the rooms above spoke to receptionist who said “that’s unfortunate “ not the reply you expect particularly at the price !! Food was average at best not at all worth the money my advice find somewhere else If you are daft enough to book don’t accept room 102 looks lovely but noisy If you want a room under the stairs move in with Harry Potter at Priver Drive

This was probably our 15th visit having had our wedding reception here 21 years ago. The staff are still great but for the first time we stayed in the Fermettes. The weather was warm and there are no windows to open (only french doors in bedroom and a small window in bathroom) so it was stifling overnight. The room could also do with some extra touches including a fan and a rug as a minimum. The only glasses were plastic and toiletries limited to soap/ shower gel. A lot of work was being done to chateau but the gardens needed attention. Dinner was enjoyable but the menu was much simplified and strawberry mousse with steak just bizarre! We will return but hopefully this feedback will be taken onboard.

Lovely hotel, stayed before. Nice room and beautiful grounds. However this last minute one night stay was spoilt by only being told after we had booked (on *******) that the restaurant that night was full. Nearest off-site restaurants are a 15 minute plus drive away (not good after an 8 hour drive). Bar snack alternatives were v poor.

Charming and elegant hotel. Ideally situated for Le Shuttle. Welcoming and helpful staff. Set in lovely parkland. Dog friendly ++. Comfortable room. Great WiFi. Drinks on the lawn, excellent dinner and good breakfast. Just the start we needed to relax and be ready for a long drive south. Thank you.
