Best Hotels in Hillsborough

Really love the hotel. Very suitable for traveller. There is kitchen for cooking with complete all the aminities. They also provide space to hang out with friends and family. Very near as in 15-20 minutes away from the hotel.

Excellent location to explore Christchurch attractions. Very clean and well appointed room for an excellent price (I was wondering what It may be getting into). The room quality was a 3+ star for US standards. The only negative is the lack of parking (only offstreet parking or may have to drive a block away for parking). The clean room, friendly staff and excellent location and the overall niceness of Christchurch and it's people in general made us quickly get over the initial stress of trying to find a place to park. The hotel is centrally located, not very expensive at price - it also corresponds to quality. The reception times are very unfavorable and are not respected. As we were following the CHC only in the afternoon, we wanted to leave the baggage at the hotel. In the early evening we asked when and whether we could deliver the baggage. The early time (from the motel view) is to wait for the opening of the reception at 9:30. On the check-out day we waited just half ten before the reception and we found that the reception was still closed and the staff were not even entered the building.. We have to wait before closed doors until 09:45. When we (And the employees!) were finally entered, we could only deliver under baggage in half an hour... thus we are swept the remaining time in CHC.. We wouldn't come here anymore!

I had spent ages googling “ Luxury Christchurch Accommodation”, and time and time again, Dyers House came up. We booked the garden room. Check in was warm and easy - Barry and Angela met us at the front door, and instantly made us feel like very special guests. As we were shown to our room, the scent of fresh flowers wafted thru the house. This historic home has been renovated with no expense spared, and so many special touches, I’m sure I will forget to mention some. Our room and bathroom were HUGE! The bedroom had elegant and exquisite furnishings, a bed that was divine, and a terrace straight off it where we had afternoon tea as we watched the birds flying around their divine garden ( a garden filled with lilacs, rhododendrons, bearded iris, cherry trees etc.) Beyond the garden lies sweeping views over Christchurch. Back to our room - our bathroom was incredible….everything heated, including the floor. Massive walk in shower, fluffy and soft bath towels, exquisite decor. Breakfast - this literally blew our minds - pastries, muffins, variety of yoghurts, fruit, including rare and exotic…cheeses, cold meats, the list went on and on. Barry made us piping hot coffee, while Angela spoilt us rotten! The hosts - Barry and Angela just love hosting people from around the world, and love spoiling them too. Both have had interesting careers that have taken them all over the globe - they have amazing stories to share, we found them to be caring, thoughtful hosts that could not do enough to make your stay as perfect as possible. The scenic location is worth the stay alone, but given the close proximity down the hill of great restaurants to chose from for dinner, added to the fact your room is divine, the hosts just lovely, and the magnificent breakfast - make this your first and only choice for Christchurch. Oh - and did I mention the afternoon tea? We sat on a private terrace, covered in roses, and ate the most divine gateaux and sweet treats. Shame I can only give them 10/10, they deserve more!

I stayed at the North South Holiday Park at the start of my solo NZ trip and very happy with my choice. The owner Dan picked me up from the airport ($5) and was able to transport me with my bike. I was able to check in early to my accommodation which was great as my flight came in early and I was jetlagged. I stayed two nights in an ensuite cabin which more than met my needs. There is a Burger King, Petrol station, highway inn within walking distance and a supermarket close by. When I went to set up my bike equipment the day after I arrived, I realised my tire was flat as my airline had misokaced some of my luggage I didn't have a bike pump. Dan was very accommodating and helped provide me with tools I needed for my bike. I highly recommend staying here and shall return here for the end of my journey in the south island.

Comfortable hotel in Heart of City. Booked a room using points as a Gold Elite. Requested quiet room and was appointed 3rd floor over traffic lights so receptionist kindly moved me to a room on opposite side. It was quiet however the walls are thin and I can hear a lot of noise this morning - a lot of noise. Room service eggs were excellent, as was bar service last night. They know how to make a good drink. I was a bit annoyed as mini bar knocked this am and said she thought there was “no one in the room” whilst I was on a call. Not so professional. Can recommend as a good hotel in Christchurch (I’ve stayed in quite a few)

The Classic Villa is perfectly located for a stay in Christchurch: - easily accessible from the airport, - just opposite the famous Arts Centre with its historic buildings (we recommend a guided tour) and highly recommended eateries (Cellar Door for dinner, Bunsen for coffee and cake) - a few steps from the magnificent botanical gardens and - all the city's attractions a pleasant stroll away (e.g. Christ Church Cathedral, the Cardboard Cathedral, CoCA: Center of Contemporary Art, the Christchurch Art Gallery). The reception at the small but excellent hotel is very friendly and extremely attentive. The breakfast is generous and filling for the day. Our room was charmingly furnished and the bathroom and WC were generously equipped. The lounges were perfect for reading and daydreaming after a day out …. We will gladly return to The Classic Villa. Steve and Jackie are wonderful hosts.

A very nice hostel. I only stayed in this hostel for one night but I will definitely go back there. Rooms clean, quite large and modern decor. I did not stay in a dorm room but the whole building makes such a good impression with good vibes that I would recommend it to anyone, even a solo traveler, especially the May bar where everything is reasonably priced.

Excellent place to stay & more like a hotel than motel. Very friendly and helpful staff, well-organised and made us feel welcome from the get-go which is always a great start to a holiday. Spacious room, all amenities provided - iron + board, hair dryer, kettle + tea, coffee, cocoa, sugar, air conditioning, satellite t.v., comfortable recliners, cutlery and so-forth. Very comfortable and large bed, lots of drawers etc. to store belongings. Even the bath had water jets! Cleaned well every morning. All ran like clockwork. Would most definitely recommend this location for all of the above and location - is a short walk into town and the airport bus is literally around the corner.

Beautiful and quiet courtyard, complete kitchen facilities, and convenient living around. Especially the Korean bosses are warm and kind and responsible for their work. One day, my husband answered the phone in the yard, accidentally put his bag on the stool in the yard and left. Our passports, ID cards and other important things were all inside. Twenty minutes later, we found out that the bag was gone, and we were in a hurry. When the domestic epidemic was tense and international flights were cancelled again, we would be unable to move without a passport. We told the Korean boss about this, he asked about the situation, let us not worry. Ten minutes later, he delivered the bag to our room. There were a lot of passports and cash in the bag. We are very fortunate to book this hotel, and met this honest and kind Korean owner, who is away from home, this hotel is trustworthy. Call the owner!
