We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Hawaiian B&B. The rooms are well appointed, comfy and clean. The property is beautiful and grounds are nice to explore. The breakfast on the lanai is the highlight of staying here. We enjoyed meeting our fellow guests and sharing ideas for what to do in the Hilo area. The breakfast was delicious and filling: fresh fruit from the property, homemade scones and banana bread, fresh squeezed orange juice, hard boiled egg and yogurt. The host was friendly and welcoming. We will stay here again if we are back on the Big Island.

The accommodations were lovely, comfortable and clean but the best selling point about Old Hawaiian are the breakfasts!! Served communally (but a small group--there are only 3 rooms at this B&B), the hostess/owner prepares simple but uber-healthy and beautifully presented foods. Every day there is a choice of two breads (monkey bread for the win!) served alongside a hard-boiled egg, yogurt and THE MOST AMAZING fruits you have ever eaten (most from her own backyard trees). She explains how to eat the more mysterious ones (suck off the cotton-candy like fibers of one, eat the rind of another). Lovely backyard that drops off to a cliff overlooking a river. Great location with ease of access to all things on the Eastern side of the Big Island. The room was spacious with both a bed and a bed-settee as well as comfortable chairs. Updated bathroom with a great shower.

We completely enjoyed our stay at the Old Hawaiian B and B! The hosts were wonderful, the rooms were cozy, the grounds were amazing and the breakfast for delicious! We were so pleased with everything. If we return to Hilo, we will hope this is available! So happy that the hosts opened their lovely place up to visitors…it allowed us to experience another incredible aspect of the island! Thank you!

Very nice B&B in a good neighborhood. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Room was spacious, well-appoined. We loved being able to have the windows open to hear the birds at night. Slept wonderfully. Breakfast was excellent. The entire experience left us with a good feeling for Hilo, without the big-hotel, touristy gitz.

Always a favorite place for us. Lovely room with well thought out amenities in place. Very delicious breakfast on the porch looking over the spacious beauty of the generous back garden that leads to the river. A good place to stay and relax.

Whatever you do, don't miss the breakfast. It was fabulous! Gorgeous surroundings and very peaceful setting. Everything was clean and well kept. The host was friendly and helpful. There are three rooms that share a lanai where breakfast is served. It was a great place to stay. We will stay there again when we go back.

Our first experience with a B&B and it was great. Lory was a wonderful host, and breakfast each morning was refreshing and plentiful. We had the Bamboo room and there was plenty of space for the two of us. All 3 rooms were booked while we were there, but the breakfast area, parking, etc. didn't feel overcrowded.

Wonderful place! The room was lovely, spacious, and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and filling and included homemade baked goods and fresh local fruits. Breakfasts were served on the lanai, where we met other guests and discussed our day's plans. Owner Lory was happy to share sightseeing tips and restaurant recommendations as well as answer any and all questions.
Response from Property: Mahalo for staying with us. Lory

The grounds were beautiful and the breakfast was superb. Most of the tropical fruits that were part of the breakfast were grown on the well kept lawn and orchard in back of the house. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. I highly recommend the Old Hawaiian B&B The quiet and peace experience did indeed seem like the "Old", less frantic, Hawaii experience.
Response from Property: Thank you for the wonderful review. Lory

This is such an amazing B&B! There is an excellent booklet with the best things to do in the area in your room. The B&B is on a beautiful property and within walking distance to a magical waterfall! The host makes a delicious vegan breakfast from fruits found on the property and other local produce. She is friendly and knowledgeable. I only regret my husband and I didn't stay here longer! We will definitely return in the future!

Lory and Stewart made us feel right at home at their B&B. The Sunset Room where we stayed was very comfortable and Lory made sure we had anything we needed. She generously accommodated our request for early morning coffee and her breakfasts were fabulous. Her homemade breads and muffins were delicious and we appreciated the effort she made to serve local fruits from her own trees on the property. Beautifully presented also. The B&B is in a convenient location for visiting all the sites in Hilo and the surrounding area. All in all a wonderful experience!

We enjoyed our stay at the B&B. Enjoyed the breakfasts and room we stayed in was beautiful. Location was very good and hostess very friendly. No A/C but evenings were not hot so not needed. Would highly recommend it.

Sunrise room was cozy and comfortable. Homemade breakfasts were great and beautifully presented. We really enjoyed the fruits and breads. Close proximity to lots of waterfalls and the town. Right next to Rainbow Falls! The bathroom door is louvered and doesn’t quite close and the top of the wall is open so if you want more privacy you should ask if another room has a different setup. We would stay again for sure though. Wonderful owners and there were lots of little touches that made it very welcoming. They thought of everything, even umbrellas and sunscreen.
