Stayed for 4 nights. Great that they had exclusive parking lots at the back of the B&B. Not exactly inside center of town, but easily walkable. Very endearing owner, John, who was more than happy to chat and share travel tips. Wife and kids weren't too thrilled with bathrooms being outside of our rooms though. apart from that, it was a pleasant stay, in a quaintly decorated B&B, comfortable beds and basic (self served) breakfast.

A nice and clean house. It is next to a very noisy road, the windows do not insulate enough. The owner is friendly and offers information. Very close to the center.

We had a lovely 7 night stay here. John is such a lovely host , with suggestions of what to do and where to go. Our room was large, comfortable and very clean. With a walk in robe which was a bonus!! The bathroom looked newly renovated.. All rooms are different, the building was a maternity hospital in its early days, very quirky. .. Its walking distance to town and Constitution dock. We did a lovely walk along the Hobart Rivulet looking for platypus.... no luck this time... ended up at the Cascade Brewery. A bonus at the B&B was the all day breakfast which we thought was well organised and very generous. A selection of breads, cereals, teas, coffee, juices and condiments were available. We would highly recommended Johns place as others have done. It was a lovely chance to meet other travellers from all over the world.

I have stayed here a few times over the years and look forward to going back this coming weekend. First time I shared the double room with a friend, subsequent stays were in the gorgeous non-ensuite queen room, this time will be the single room. This place has real atmosphere, I would even say gravitas, presence. There is something sublime about the building and the way in which it has been decorated, especially up the stairs and on the first floor. For significantly less than a new, modern hotel in the centre of town you can in my opinion enjoy a far cosier and warmer room than those cold, overpriced clone hotels. The appeal of which has never made sense to me and I regard this as a vastly preferable option. It is true, it's not for everyone but if you appreciate things with a bit more of a sense of culture and care for aesthetics then Edinburgh Gallery would be a good choice. Yes, the upstairs bathroom is a bit small and I am not that tall or large but it's still nice and cosy and that's a minor concern. The dining area downstairs is really nice as well.

This is a fabulous B &B. Rooms are great, superbly clean and comfortable. It's such a relaxing beautiful large house. John is great, a lovely helpful very delightful person. Breakfast is help yourself, and there is a huge variety provided for breakfast . My husband and I loved our stay and would definitely stay again. It's central for all the great sights and places of interest in Hobart.

A friend and I stayed here for three nights after completing a week on the Overland Track. The place is full of quirky art in a beautiful old house. The road noise was noticeable in the basement level but not too bad. The shared bathrooms were clean and of good quality. The breakfast was basic but relaxed and John, the host, is lovely, welcoming and helpful.

The location was good for easy walk into Hobart and the harbour area also Cascades Brewery and The Female Factory. The road junction outside was noisy but did settle down later on. Breakfast was toast and cereal which seemed basic, you helped yourself to and then cleared up. Not quite what we'd expect from a b and b. We felt it was all a bit shabby and dated , however John our host was very friendly and helpful.

Great location within east reach of all attractions, restaurants and the SkyBus to the Airport. Spacious rooms with high ceilings and space heaters for cool nights and mornings. Well equipped kitchen for simple breakfast: coffee, juice, cereal, bread and jam. Live-in cordial and helpful Hist, John, a real plus.

We enjoyed a two night stay here in June. Our spacious room was conveniently located on the ground floor on the Molle Street side. Although the weather was quite cold, we were warm and cosy with an in-room heater and electric blanket. We liked the quaint ambiance of the historic building and the interesting furniture and decor. The bathroom was old but functional and very clean. Breakfast was well catered for with an extensive range of cereals, breads, spreads, milk and juices available to serve ourselves in the breakfast room. There are also facilities to heat and serve your own food. John is an excellent host and obviously prepared to go the extra mile as he had to wait up late one night for some guests who hadn't arrived at the expected time. Our only problem was the traffic noise from the intersection of Macquarie and Molle Streets. This continued until fairly late and night and started early in the morning. Other than that, a perfect stay.

Location - great. Easy walking distance to CBD, eateries and transport links. Building - terrific. More like a museum that a hotel. Every room is stuffed with eclectic articles and books. John's office is wall to wal, floor to ceiling books. Manager - John is warm, relaxed and helpful. Breakfast - very well stocked 'help yourself' style. fruit and cookies available all day. Great for late night munchies! Highly recommended!

Very beautiful old house right in the middle of the city. The host John was lovely. We stayed in the bottom floor right next to the road and after reading other reviews I was a little concerned. We didn’t even notice the road. The room and bed was very comfortable. The walk to the loo could be long for some but I loved the adventure 😊 very clean shared bathroom and kitchen. Awesome location and awesome price. Would recommend!!!

I do not often leave reviews but would feel unkind to John if I did not record what a truly excellent place this is. Immaculately presented, a most generous breakfast and altogether such a bonus to my Hobart experience. Thank you so much John. So appreciated.
