Reviews of Lowena Cafe and Accommodation

This is possibly the worst place we’ve ever stayed in😧It was filthy 🤢 with dust, dirt, black and orange mould throughout shower, vomit stains on carpet, cobwebs, rags for guests face washers, a jungle of weeds for the garden, grime all over walls, no bin or wifi…tacky dust covered paintings and ornaments, sticky carpet , dirty blanket and old flyers & mags in the dingy cupboard…someone else’s hair stuck to chairs; uncomfortable bed that looked like someone had jumped on it before we got there ….the list goes on. Whilst the owner was cheerful and friendly and provided a satisfactory breakfast, he is unfair & did little to improve the room and bathroom (where guests are expected to share the toiletries). We didn’t shower the first night because we didn’t want to stand in the putrid shower base & catch a disease😩😭 . After the first night we let the host know that we were not happy with the room & requested the room and bathroom be cleaned. We tried to book in elsewhere but everything else was booked out. We returned to Lowena to find the room still the same (disgustingly dirty) and he had sprayed some bleach in the shower😮🥴I told the host how disappointed we were with the state of the place & would appreciate some refund . He advised us to contact the booking agent . The agent contacted him and he refused to refund & told them that the place was like that because we had stayed there for 2 nights . This man is trying to save money by trying to do the building, cleaning, gardening, cooking etc all by himself. Lowena may have once been a nice place . However , now It is run down and uncared for and unsanitary😵💫! I would never recommend this place to anyone! It ruined our stay in Hobart. I do not understand how someone in the hospitality industry can expect guests to pay top dollar for such a ****hole🐀. He is making a lot of money ripping off guests and yet can’t afford a cleaner or gardener??!We spoke with other guests and they were also in disbelief😪 about the state of the place. It looks nothing like the photos that promote it. I have uploaded some photos. The shower photo was taken after he apparently cleaned it🤮.Do yourself a favour and stay anywhere else in Hobart besides the Lowena. It is truly squalid & revolting accommodation😱👎👎👎👎👎 If I could have - I would give it a 0/10 for cleanliness and amenities!🤦♀️😖🤬🏃🏽♀️➡️🏃🏽➡️Run for your lives before the cooties catch you!!

Kevin is very nice man . We happy definitely come back . Good breakfast breakfast and nice coffee.

The breakfast, coffee, location, and host are fantastic. The hotel owner is one of the friendliest people I’ve ever met. However, the room’s heating could be stronger, and it could be cleaner.

Good accommodation with quite good breakfast cooked by the owner.

Kevin was very helpful and served us well. We love the breakfast and the heritage room where we can view Mt Wellington from the windows. It would be better if the room is provided with waste bin.

The place is close, like 5-7min driving to CBD. But the best thing is the service is the TOP. Kevin is really nice to guests. He explained to us even before we asked.

This price is too bad for a room like this. You have to find the key yourself when you check in. You can't even find the door at first.

The room was very nice, the boss was very nice, and he also provided a rich breakfast. It is also very convenient to go to various tourist attractions. It's also very close to the city. The overall feeling of staying here is very relaxing!
