We stayed in Ancient River Villa in Hoi An for two weeks and loved every second of it. The welcome we received was very warm and friendly and Dzung and her lovely family and housekeeper looked after us so well during our time there. It is their home and they made us feel we were at home and part of the family too. We did not want to leave. They looked after us during our stay organising trips out which were all fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble. My partner organised this trip for my birthday (60th) and Dzung sourced a bottle of Champagne and delivered that to my partner to surprise me. After we returned from a lovely day out in Hoi An we were greeted with a birthday cake and candles which was such a lovely surprise and a wonderful thing for them to do. The ensuite rooms are spacious, clean and well maintained. There were even toothbrushes and toothpaste provided. Towels were changed daily, the bed was made every day and the linen was changed. It was always spotless. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided as was bottled water every day but even better, beer for a small charge! I slept like a log there. The breakfast was always delicious and beautifully presented, especially the fruit which followed the main breakfast and the bread rolls were so light and tasty. I am a vegetarian but my partner is not but there is plenty of choice for everyone. We had a balcony which overlooked the river and it was very relaxing sitting on the balcony watching the world go by. In particular some ingenious uses of the most common form of transport here, mopeds, scooters and motorbikes. The things they manage to transport on their scooters is incredible. We tried the local restaurants, the one round the corner is vegetarian and the food great but if you walk a short distance the other way you will come to Baby Mustard which also offers cookery classes. There is another restaurant in the same road which we ate at and enjoyed very much. Hoi An itself is a wonderful place and I am so glad we stayed at the Ancient River Hotel because it enhanced the experience. Dzung was always happy to answer any questions we had, give us tips on where to go, arrange trips for us or just sit and have a chat. We are truly grateful to her, the family and staff who are just wonderful, kind hearted and lovely people. The Ancient Town in Hoi Ann is a short drive away but easy to get to and very cheap by taxi. We walked there on occasions. If you love shopping, Hoi An will not disappoint. There is also a wide range of restaurants available which cater for all tastes. Hoi An comes alive in the evening and becomes an array of dazzling colour amid the hustle and bustle of the locals and the tourists. A rather soulless place...and although quiet, it's just a little bit too far out from the main action to walk. Hard to find too many faults though...has a kinda Raffles Colonial vibe...feels new...and is clean. Breakfast buffet very good. Solid gym. Staff formal and efficient...but the place lacks a bit of joy overall. A fellow guest was getting charged for ”dirtying a face towel” as we were leaving. My partner said: ”it feels a bit 'communist'”... which is a nice sum up. Certainly one for any shortlist though.

It was great from the moment they opened the car door for us to the time they put us in the car with our driver. The welcome lemon drink was delicious and the customer service was great, Especially from Hien. Hien was really kind to us on our stay, great example of excellent service. The room was great as well & the pools. They also can help your organize your tours. ~Mei

I was impressed by the service during my check in to the hotel. While they processed, we were given refreshments. Strongly recommend the hotel as it is walking distance about 15 min walk to old city. Morning breakfast buffet is good too as they changes their menu daily.

It's such an amazing time that we spent there. The resort was beautiful and well designed with plenty of tropical trees, large swimming pool and quiet atmosphere. It's the very tough time for hospitality industry, but they still kept their atmosphere quite good. The room was well kept and enough for our stay. However, the electric card was kept on whole day, they could save a lots of money by install door card and electric card in one to reduce the electric usage in the guest rooms.
