Stunning Waterfront Home; 1 Min Walk to Beach

When we arrived the house was obviously not cleaned, and the power was completely shut off. The beds weren’t made, dishes still in the sink, dirty washcloths in the shower, trash in the trash cans. When I attempted to communicate with the host, I received no response, I essentially had to force the host to respond by contacting VRBO customer support. We ended up having to pay for an hotel on the first night. When we came back, we could see that, instead of washing the sheets, the “housekeeper” who was just a friend of the host, had just remade the beds with the same dirty sheets. We tried to wash them using the washer/dryer combo in the unit but it didn’t even work, leaving only one option which was to go buy new sheets. Speaking of sheets, the master bed is broken in the middle. Overall, the place was just grimy. We could tell that the rug had never been vacuumed once, not to mention the hole in the floor that it was covering, and on top of all that, the stove does not work at all. Additionally, the outside doorknob on the back door didn’t work, which meant leaving the door cracked open every time we went outside. Lastly, there were a lot of bugs in the unit, if one single crumb was dropped, it would be completely swarmed with sand fleas. We saw one of the largest cockroaches i’ve ever seen, luckily we bought a can of Raid to take care of it. The only good parts of the house were the roof over our heads and the cold air conditioner. It was cheap but not cheap enough.

This place is a nightmare. The actual property is gross and run down. Hole in the floor that’s covered by a rug, so my wife tripped and almost fell. Mold in the ceiling in the bathroom that’s been painted over, also a hole in the bathroom ceiling that is dripping into the sink. The primary bedroom bed is broken and dips into the middle, other beds were covered in sand. No parking was left available so had to park across the street at 50 a day. We ended up leaving early because the place was too gross to stay in and we were concerned about the mold. Notified the host but they still have not responded and it’s been over a week. Still fighting w VRBO for our refund. Skip this one.
