TownePlace Suites Miami Homestead

Homestead|4.66km from city center
Compendium: Customer oriented staff. Simple and comfortable rooms. Decent amenities. Well maintained. Very short distance to shopping sites. “So, why would you stay all the way out in Homestead, which is sort of like in the middle of nowhere?” That’s what a friend asked me after a few stays at this hotel at the tip of Florida. I informed the individual that this TownePlace was definitely a hidden gem in my eyes. It is definitely a distance from the major cities like Miami, Doral and FLL but it is still a great choice for many reasons. If you are fond of shopping then there is a shopping plaza ~ 5 minutes driving distance, with off-price retail stores like Ross, Marshalls, and TJ Max, and brands like Old Navy, Kohls and the must try ‘Its Fashion’ for fashionista females who might love trendy or urban clothing(I found myself wanting to either pick out some items for friends or just bring them and watch them find multiple beautiful items at a great price.) There isn’t much of a view but there is a Wendys in walking distance, and you can make a quick dash to Publix or Mcdonalds across the street. The front desk staff to the housekeeping and maintenance workers are always friendly, personable, and some staff like Sasha and Maria - definitely my favorite front desk staff and housekeeper, respectively - will always ensure you are comfortable and have everything you need during your stay. Maria would often ask if there is anything I need without being prompted or asked. Their personalities and work ethic are both awesome and perfect for their positions. The hotel also seems to uphold safety and privacy standards rather well as I’ve always observed them asking for identification in a polite manner. Even Jesus, one of the maintenance workers whom I constantly ran into, was very friendly and would greet me with a “hey” and smile even when I wasn’t aware he was nearby. But if you arrive at night you will possibly be greeted by Emory and Elias who are also very likable and amiable. As I’ve stayed at this location a few times, I can say that the rooms are well maintained for a hotel built in 2016. Maintenance ensures the hotel is well kept and preserved. The rooms are simple with no bells and whistles but you’ll feel relaxed and comfortable. The TVs are a decent size, maybe 47', and there is the basic selection of channels . They do come with a full kitchen setup. Utensils are provided. The showers have always felt clean and hot water is always available. The gym is a decent size(maybe borderline spacious) with an adequate selection of equipment. I once grilled at 2am in the morning and was even able to get an oven mitt upon request. The hotel does offer complimentary breakfast and it is a decent selection. There is often yogurt, milk, Belgian waffles, cereal, and veggie frittatas. The breakfast staff is very friendly so if you do not see something you like do not hesitate to ask, as I’ve seen about two people ask for something specific and the kitchen

Best Western Gateway to the Keys

Florida City|2.53km from Everglades Outpost
This is located within short walking distance to a Pollo Tropical, McDonalds, Wendy’s, & a decently accommodated Gas Station. A short (less than 10min drive) to Walgreens (with anything you might need that you forgot at home), Starbucks, Denny’s Diner and other gas stations. They have a pool which I didn’t get to see up close, because of how busy I was while in town and for my short stay, but looked nice from the lobby. The front lobby conveniently has an ATM with a $2.99 fee & looks clean and well kept. The young woman working the front desk was SUPER Helpful and knowledgeable of the area and very sweet. This hotel also offers breakfast. Despite the a/c being a little loud and dated it kept the room nice and cold without skipping a beat which is a major plus for Being in Florida (if you’re going to the keys you better expect to stay in dated places as that’s how the nostalgia is in this beautiful part of FL is) Unlike the front lobby, the room was questionable regarding its sanitation. If you are like me, you might stay up and not get a lot of sleep due to the lack of cleanliness, as I kept everything in my suit case and didn’t have a lot of faith in how sanitary the counters or commonly used areas were. Upon entry I noticed an odd smudge on the ceiling and over on the wall by the bed. I did not intend on touching the ceiling and walls anyway so I shrugged it off. Upon going to the bathroom,I noticed an odd yellow substance smeared on the bathroom door - maybe cheese? I’m unsure. Then upon Lifting the toilet lid, found a dark hair, about an inch long, fine, I can wipe that off and avoid sitting. But then when I took a shower found more of the same, similar looking, hair on the shower wall along with an unidentifiable smudge in a dripping formation next to them, did my best to not touch the walls and barely touch the curtains and really hesitated using the towel after seeing this. I do not have inch long & dark hair, anywhere on my body, nor did I have any guests with me. Next to the trash can in the bathroom was a dark substance splashed on the wall from someone throwing something away and hitting the wall, clearly not me as i had only thrown tissues, & remaining unused travel sized shampoo bottles with clear liquids away in that trash can. At night I went to turn the lamp on and couldn’t help but notice another glob of who knows what on the stand of the lamp. I Kept my house slippers on as the floors look swept but not cleaned (as in mopped or swiffered.) If you are like me you will probably lose some sleep and choose to sleep in your long pants and long sleeved shirts as the cleanliness of the bathroom was very off putting and made me hesitant to use anything else in the room. If you do not care about these things then you will utterly enjoy your stay and move on to the next destination on your trip. If it wasn’t for the cleanliness of the room I’d say this hotel is a solid 4 despite the paint peeling in the corners of the walls & baseboards (to be expected as this is truly a dated part of Florida.) I would say it’s almost as if only the trash was taken out, sheets were changed and new towels were added to the room before I came to stay and, maybe if I was lucky, a quick spray and wipe down of anything someone could touch. I personally don’t think I would choose this hotel again and I think I’d rather pay a little extra for the one next to it for the peace of mind for cleanliness. Ironically house keeping will check to see if you have left before the checkout time (noon)

Breakfast is ok, better than average motel, rooms are clean and new, but facilities are a bit rudimentary. There was a microwave in the room, but our room tripped as soon as we used the microwave. We jumped four times throughout the night! The front desk looked for someone to say that this microwave is not available. If you want to warm things, use the microwave in the hotel restaurant. The swimming pool is small and there are always many children

Going to Keywest, the Everglades live in Homestead. It is very suitable for traffic. There are many choices for eating around. There are also outlets, and it takes half an hour and forty minutes to drive to Miami. I have lived in many American Hampton Inns before, and it has been very reliable, and this one is one of the best in the Homestead. The rooms are large, the bedding is comfortable, the service is good and the facilities are complete. The downside is that the breakfast variety is a little less, and that day is the same as the number of guests, waffle this has to queue for a long time. Generally recommended.

This is a beautiful hotel close in to town. This place also has great prices. Everyone was very nice and caring we met. A personal preference was not included in this new hotel. They had tub showers, rather than regular showers, which are slippery due to excess soap in cleaning etc. Another feature I disapprove of is requiring a key to be inserted in a box to turn on air etc.. Breakfast is not free but is available. My room #604 was oddly arranged where you could not see the TV from the couch. But, I loved the newness so well that I gave it a 5*.
Courtyard Miami Homestead

When you are discharged from an Emergency Room at 4 a.m., 1000 miles from home and by yourself, any port in a storm will do -- and as luck would have it, there was a hotel across the parking lot. But the Courtyard was more than just any port. I got a very warm welcome, a comfortable room and caring kindness from the staff for the three nights I spent there. The front desk staff was kind enough to get me a room at that unusual hour, and then to provide a discount to later extend my stay as I worked out Plan B. The hotel was an oasis of calm, very quiet. The pool was lovely. The room was clean, spacious and well appointed (though I couldn't quite figure out the lights, haha). There was a guest laundry that worked out great. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants, shopping, grocery stores and of course that hospital. It's not very pedestrian friendly, but it can be done. If you've read this far, my husband came to get me and I am fully recovered, thank goodness. Highly recommend the Marriott Courtyard!

The hotel mattress is very comfortable and is customized by serta for the hotel. You can buy things at the target supermarket on foot. It is recommended to try the number one nearby Shiver's BBQ. It’s also very good to have a restaurant in a nearby Mexican gathering area called La Cruzada. We play back late every day so we go back to the hotel to eat.
