I've stayed in four places in the TST/Jordan area, ranging from a hostel with 6-bunks per room to a boutique luxury hotel. The New Yan Yan rooms are in the Chungking Mansion and typical for the neighborhood 'mansions': tiny rooms with combination shower/toilet space. The bed is somewhat basic/stiff and the blanket is a sheet. So if you need a comfy bed, or if you want to sleep with the AC on and need a real blanket, don't stay here. Why 5 stars? It was the best value for my needs, as it was only slightly more expensive than the hostel. The room was very clean and tidy. There were no weird odors. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is informal which I prefer to more upscale places. A great budget choice for Kowloon.
