Golden Island Hotel

The owner was incredibly kind. Not only did they store our luggage for free, but they also helped us with many issues. The main problem was that I booked the wrong room, and they promptly offered a solution. Plus, the price was quite reasonable for the area. As for the stay, hygiene is always my top priority, and I couldn't find a single flaw – it was spotless. While the room might not be as spacious as those on the mainland, it's excellent for Hong Kong. I highly recommend this great place!

Great location in a charming, older building, making it super convenient for sightseeing. The location is truly excellent! The service was very nice! It's incredibly easy to get around and explore from here!

The room was even smaller than I expected, with old facilities. There was no real window – just a sealed one that let in no light. What's worse, I found cockroaches around the window and other areas, which was absolutely disgusting. I stayed for four nights over the Chinese New Year holiday, and the room was never cleaned. On the first day, I was given two bottles of water at check-in. When I asked the owner for more later, she said water was only provided at check-in. I've stayed in many hotels, and I've never heard of such a policy; water is always provided daily. And the hotel wasn't even particularly cheap. In short, I will never stay here again and definitely don't recommend it. This experience almost makes me not want to visit Hong Kong again!

Our flight arrived in the early hours, so I booked this guesthouse last minute before departure. During Chinese New Year, hotel prices were all over a thousand, so to stick to our budget, we chose a family guesthouse. I was worried that poor hygiene or other conditions might spoil our trip, so I was quite anxious before checking in. However, after meeting Ms. Yang (who I assume is the owner, as we connected on WeChat, and she was very responsive and answered all our questions), my worries disappeared. It was already 2 AM when we arrived, and Ms. Yang was still waiting for us. Seeing we had a child, she thoughtfully upgraded us to a family room with a window (a triple room). Though compact, the room had everything we needed: a hairdryer, disposable toiletries, all very complete. The bed, while not huge, was very sturdy. The sheets and duvet covers were also very clean. We could even store our luggage. It truly exceeded our expectations. My family was happy, which made me happy. The next day, we were refreshed and took the child to the nearby Science Museum for a fun afternoon. The guesthouse is located on the 7th and 9th floors of the Ping An Building, between Yau Ma Tei and Jordan MTR stations, about a twenty-minute walk from the Science Museum.

The room amenities were too basic, and the toilet seat was broken. The surrounding area was just so-so. Although it's near Temple Street, it took us a long time to find it on the first day.

The hotel was very clean, and the service was excellent and thoughtful. They even had umbrellas ready for guests to use when it was pouring rain, which was a nice touch. The front desk staff, especially Yang, was patient and responsible—kudos to her! This hotel offers great value for money. Highly recommended!

For Hong Kong, it's decent, not the worst. But it's really not comparable to hotels on the mainland.

The host was great and the room was very clean. They even let me extend my check-out by an hour.
