We arrived on Friday afternoon. The place was beautiful and nostalgic. We checked in and the room was nice... we left and returned that evening to find out that we had no heat. I asked why the Forster heating wasn’t working because it was 41degrees, All I git was a blanket and a floor heater. The maintenance guy stated”Itsnot just a switch I can turn on and I don’t know what to do. My wife had major surgery years ago and her spleen was taken. Therefore she gets cold easy. So we cuddled up and for the next few hours, there were people upstairs running back and forth shaking the entire floor. I called the front desk many times up to 3am to get these people to stop with no avail.. We stayed one night and with no sleep, I was so frustrated that when we checked out, I wanted to be compensated for my room. I was told that they couldn’t do anything because I booked the room through you guys.. Amazing

The check in was smooth, although there was only one representative for the front desk so she had to juggle us and the phones but she was very friendly and welcoming, she gave us a great recommendation for eating which was Oakside, the room was clean, we stayed for 3 nights and the amenities were provided as needed without any issues. It was a great stay and we look forward to staying here again!

I’ve been visiting Big Bear for many years but have always rented houses with friends. When my husband and I decided to go up just the two of us, we took a chance on booking a hotel room for the first time. We expected the accommodations to be somewhat older because much of Big Bear is that way, but our room exceeded our expectations. Our Standard King room with fireplace was spacious, extremely clean, well equipped (microwave, mini fridge, silverware, coffee maker and mugs), and all for a reasonable price. We will be coming here any time we need just a room instead of renting a house.

Great location. It’s very close to grocery stores, The Village, and attractions. We also went to The Barn Bowling Alley and Swim Beach/Ski Beach, and everything was close by. I was pleasantly surprised with the room. It’s very roomy and has a rustic modern feel. It was clean and we loved the full kitchen. Our family of four enjoyed our stay. We would definitely book here again. The pool was a perfect temp. We come to big bear every summer in August. We find most places don’t have AC. This place provided fans and we brought an extra from house. Each room also has a ceiling fan. The place cools down really quick. All the staff were so nice. I called ahead and asked for a first floor due to a recent knee injury. They were able to accommodate. The bathroom showers even had rails in the shower which was a bonus.

This place is a dump, and management is extremely rude and inhospitable for a business that is in the hospitality industry. We booked Unit 14 for a Saturday and Sunday night. When we arrived on Saturday afternoon, the unit had a strong odor that was giving us headaches and making my 70 year-old mother-in-law nauseous. We assumed the smell was from extra cleaning because of Covid, opened the windows to ventilate the unit and went out to do some outdoor activities in Big Bear. Wrong! The smell wasn’t from cleaning; it was from bug spray to try to kill the ants that we later discovered all over the kitchen, downstairs bedroom and living room. In addition to the ant problem, the water in the pool was drained (which was not disclosed on their website or Booking.com), multiple light bulbs were out, there were screens missing in several windows, one of the beds had a crater indented into the mattress that made it virtually impossible to sleep in, the TV remote did not work and the air conditioner literally spit out icicles during the night. Overall, the unit was dated (not in a good way) and run down. We weren’t expecting the Ritz Carlton, but we did expect it to be clean, free of bugs, with a working TV and light bulbs, and a beds that could be slept in. We could have dealt with the other issues, but the ants and lingering smell of bug spray were a deal breaker. Unfortunately, because we had been out enjoying ourselves during the afternoon and evening, we did not realize the extent of the ant problem until after 8 p.m. We called the front desk and spoke with Mandy. She was not at all surprised and did not deny that they had sprayed for ants before our arrival. In fact, admitting that there were major issues with our unit, Mandy offered to cancel our reservation for a full refund. She pointed out, however, that because it was a Saturday night, we might have trouble finding somewhere else to stay. She was right. We went online and called around to a few places, but couldn’t find anywhere else to stay on Saturday night (there were 7 of us – me, wife, four kids and grandma – so we would have needed at least two rooms). Because we could not find another hotel, Mandy gave us the option of staying on Saturday but cancelling and getting a refund for our second night. Since we didn’t have any other options, we decided to stay on Saturday and cancel the second night of our reservation. We were expecting to get a refund for at least half the amount we paid, since we had only stayed one night, and because of all of the issues with the unit. Instead, Bear Creek only refunded us $270 out of a $740 booking. So basically, they charged us $470 to stay one night in an ant-infested, bug-spray-smelling, run down dump of a cabin. For the past several days we have been fighting with Bear Creek to get a half refund (we should be asking for a full refund), and can’t believe the way we’ve been treated. On Sunday, Mandy basically told us we we

GGuest UserThe first night we arrived, we had to call the after-hours number at 10:30pm once we realized our cable wasn't working. The first thing I said was ”I'm sorry to have to call afterhours, but our cable isn't working and we're wondering if someone could assist us?” To which Carla, the manager, responded ”You need help right now... Seriously?” as if it was a HUGE inconvenience to assist us afterhours for something so trivial. I told her, ”Uh....yes. I know its late, but we paid for a room w/cable - Please send someone.” Two mins later she called back (obviously annoyed) to ask if we had tried unplugging and/or turning the cable off, then back on again. We had tried both. She then huffed and said someone is on their way. About 10 mins later a man showed up, pressed a couple buttons on the remote, then threw the remote down and began walking away without saying a word. He was headed out the door so quickly we didn't have a chance to process what had just happened, so my husband called after him to ask, ”Hey, wait...what did you press on the remote so we know how to fix it next time?” To which he condescendingly replied, ”I changed the channel,” without even looking back at us. We felt extremely insulted and embarrassed in that moment. We were treated like *****s because Management couldn't be bothered to tell us what an easy fix it was. Their behavior towards us was unacceptable and unmerited, which is why I called the Manager back to let her know how disrespected they made us feel. Instead of simply apologizing, she got equally hostile towards me and the conversation ended abruptly without resolution. Had we not made non-refundable plans the next day, we most certainly would have checked out a day early. We've stayed here previously and had a great time, so this this whole experience was completely unexpected and disappointing. Room and location were great.... Customer Service is severely lacking. We will not be returning.

We spent one night in a lake front room. We had pretty low expectations because so many people wrote horrible reviews, but it was a clean room, looked the same as the pictures. Having a fireplace was awesome. The fridge was great to have. Our balcony looked at the lake and it snowed overnight and it was such a delight to wake up to snow on the balcony. Bathroom was a-ok, except the tub seemed to have stains on it, it should probably be repainted and the shower water pressure was really poor, so the filters probably need to be changed. Beds were comfortable, pillows were fine. The front office was really nice. The coffee and breakfast was fine, pre-packaged pastries, cereal, coffee, OJ, milk, could use more protein so children don't lose their minds after breakfast. Parking was easy. Because of the snow and ice the walkways were pretty slippery, I would recommend for safety that they clear and salt everything so no one risks falling. Overall a really great stay with fine accommodations and a couple of things they could do to improve the overall experience. Thanks!
