Reviews of Huangshan Tunxi Old Street Huishe Homestay

Excellent location, right in the middle of the old street in an alley. It's an old conservation building, with all the olden day charms. Ah Chen kindly met us at the drop off, as the old street is vehicle free, and brought us to the hotel. Be aware that as it's an conservation building, there isn't any elevator and access to 2nd floor rooms are via a relatively steep staircase, people with mobility issue has to take note. Going for a walk along the river is convenient too, and there's a lot of eateries nearby as well.

Very pretty hotel that looks like an old museum. Located within a small alley way along Tunxi Old Street, the rooms are old fashioned style but very clean. Service is excellent and personal. Would definitely love to return and spend more time just chilling in the hotel, drinking tea and idling. Highly recommend

Loved this historic inn near the old town of Tunxi. Period construction of wood, moldings and period appropriate furniture and furnishings. Hidden down some alleyways, it is a little tricky to find. The host was friendly and efficient at check in, referring us to a local restaurant for dinner. Walls and thin and floors creaky, you'll feel the outside temperature; but each room equipped with its own heating unit. Overall a lovely historic, romantic little inn. Recommend.

It has a vintage feel

This accommodation is located in the middle of Tunxi Laojie, but its location in a back alley made it difficult to find. Because it's a wooden building, soundproofing isn't great, and the interior remodeling wasn't perfect, it felt quite chilly. I was disappointed that it didn't offer much of the cozy, traditional atmosphere of a traditional house.

This was a hotel I encountered that wasn't my first choice. It was a 160-year-old building with a unique charm, satisfying a northerner's curiosity about gray walls and black tiles inside. It also boasted a spacious, modern lobby where you could sit and chat over tea, and admire the owner's collection of antiques and trinkets. Every decoration and every small item showcased the owner's artistic taste and dedication. Due to health reasons, I didn't go out to drink tea, but I enjoyed listening to Mr. Sheng tell his entrepreneurial story and the process of collecting and creating this guesthouse-museum. It was a very pleasant afternoon. Highly recommended!
