Reviews of Huangshan Bai Yun Hotel

In April, I stayed at Baiyun with my mom for a night. The room is small and not soundproof (neighbors may be loud, but the hotel can provide earplugs), but it’s very comfortable, cozy, and clean. We got a room with a slanted roof, and a small sitting space near the window. The shower pressure is very good, and the water gets hot quickly. There’s even a bucket to soak your feet after hiking, and thick jackets and a flashlight for usage outside. The service is very attentive and courteous. When we arrived, staff 叶鹤菲 (Ye Hefei) showed us around the room, and later even gave us some gifts (some fruit, tea leaves, and local snacks). Via wechat, she sent us info on the hotel, weather and sunrise conditions. The buffet dinner was 160rmb, while breakfast buffet was included - pretty tasty with many options. It’s expensive, but understandable knowing that all the food has to be carried up through the hard work of manual labor. It takes a while to reach Baiyun Hotel from Yungu cable car, but it was worth it! You can see the sunrise from the nearby Aoyu Peak (~10-15min hike up) or Guangming Peak (~20-30min hike up, more tiring). At Aoyu Peak (which they recommended), I was able to see 云海 (sea of clouds), which was very beautiful. Hopefully the weather is good (the days before it was very foggy and cloudy, low visibility). This was a phenomenal hotel and we are thrilled with our experience! At Bai Yun the location is unsurpassed. We were able to go right up to the sunset and sunrise and it is in a perfect location for the incredible views. As if this could be topped, we really have to say the staff were incredible. We’ve never been catered to as we were with Xiao Bi. She is incredibly attentive and kind and made a great stay perfect. Without asking she informed us of the best times and places for the view, personally brought us a welcome basket, invited us to a performance and, most amazingly, checked with us on the suitability of our room and gave us a fantastic one. Without a doubt a great experience and so happy to have had Xiao Bi!

Great excellent personalized service with lots of additional perks by Huang Customer Service Manager. She responded quickly to our questions. The upper floor was a bit noisy as you can hear the wind howling, proof that you are living on the mountain top!

Irreplaceable Location: Right near Guangming Peak, it’s the prime spot for sunrise, sunset, and sea of clouds! Watching the sunrise requires no long trek in the morning, saving significant energy. Just a short walk (about 15-20 minutes) from the hotel door gets you to the best viewing point – friendly for families with seniors/children or anyone wanting to avoid exhaustion! Clean & Cozy Rooms: Mountain-top conditions are limited, but the room was exceptionally clean and tidy. The bedding was dry and comfortable (crucial in the humid high altitude!), and being able to take a hot shower and sleep soundly after a day of hiking was pure bliss. Window to a Fairyland: Our room window faced the valley. When mist swirled, it was like a fairyland, on clear days, we could admire the majestic, overlapping mountain peaks. Lying in bed enjoying the mountain views – it's totally worth it! Breakfast: The variety at the mountaintop buffet breakfast was impressive for such a high altitude. Getting a hot, filling breakfast like this at 1,800+ meters to fuel up for the day's adventures was absolutely essential and deeply satisfying! Special praise for Steward Huang(黄星华)! Her service was super warm and attentive, providing loads of practical information from check-in guidance to itinerary suggestions. Upon checkout, she thoughtfully gave us a small gift. While not expensive, this gesture felt incredibly warm and heartfelt.

We were hosted by 小毕 for a one-night stay. She gave useful suggestions regarding the hiking routes suitable for our group and provided us with timely sunset/sunrise times and weather conditions. We are very impressed with her professionalism and hospitality.

We stayed at Huangshan Baiyun Hotel for one night, hoping to catch the famous sunrise. Although it ended up raining (we later learned the area gets over 200 days of rain a year!), the experience was still absolutely worth it. We took the Yungu cable car from the back of the mountain and hiked about 4.5 hours to reach the hotel. While we originally planned to visit the Xihai Grand Canyon, we chose a shorter route due to the rain—passing Flying-over-the-Rock and Bright Summit. When we arrived, we were soaked, but the hospitality was immediate. Staff gave us bags for our wet gear and greeted us in the lobby with hot ginger tea—such a thoughtful and comforting gesture! The hotel itself was spotless and well-equipped. After checking in, Xiao Ye (小叶) led us to our room and introduced all the amenities: umbrellas, warm jackets for chilly mornings, a foot bath bucket, tea and coffee with a kettle, and my favorite—a clothes-drying heater. She also added us on WeChat, which made everything super convenient. Through WeChat, she updated us on weather conditions and available hotel services, including a complimentary 20-minute massage chair session. The buffet dinner and breakfast were both tasty with a good variety, and we enjoyed a lovely staff performance in the lobby that evening. Later in the evening, Xiao Ye surprised us with local Huangshan snacks and fruit—a small act of kindness that made us feel genuinely cared for and welcomed. Even though the weather didn’t cooperate, the hotel made our stay feel warm and memorable. I’d definitely stay here again—hopefully next time under clear skies to finally catch that beautiful sunrise!

Spending a night at Baegun Hotel was truly unforgettable ❤️ It’s just a 20-minute walk to Gwangmyeongjeong, perfect for catching the sunrise. The staff were incredibly kind—special thanks to Ms. Xinghua for the thoughtful care! 🙏🏻

The location of the hotel is extremely good, the meal spread is fantastic, and the personal concierge Xiao Yi (小屹) is very attentive and meticulous. He shared the updated timings for the sunset and sunrise as well as where to go for the best views without you asking. He is very responsive on the WeChat to attend to your needs. The condition of the room is good considering it's located high in the mountains. The hotel provided windbreakers too against the lower temperature for early and night outings.

I stayed overnight at Baiyun Hotel and was thoroughly impressed. The cozy, well-maintained facilities and exceptional service made for a memorable stay. Xiao Yue provided meticulous care, sharing a detailed two-day itinerary via WeChat—including afternoon, sunset, sunrise, and half-day plans that covered most highlights of Huangshan. I adjusted my original plan to visit the Fairy Bridge, and it was absolutely worth it. The next morning, I watched the sunrise, hiked to Xihai, and took the cable car back just before checkout. Both breakfast and dinner offered a wide variety of options. Highly recommended for foreign tourists.

The service was wonderful. They are very attentive. Our account manager Xiao Ye 小叶 was so helpful. She sent us everything we needed to know to have the best chance of seeing sunset and sunrise on HuangShan. We got very lucky with a beautiful sunrise on Bright Summit (GuangMingDing 光明顶). Note: the hike to BaiYun Hotel is hard - 40min from the cable car. Don’t bring anything more than a backpack. Pros: great service, local performance in the evenings, good breakfast. Near 2nd highest peak (guanmingding) for a convenient sunrise location. They provide warm jackets and even vintage old style attire for free for photographs. Near lots of great hiking on both routes to the hotel. Cons: hard hike to the hotel. It’s up hill both ways because it’s in a valley. Hotel is a bit old style, but good. Walls are a bit thin but they can provide you with ear plugs.

非常好宾馆 I booked this hotel because of many positive reviews from foreign travelers. When I arrived, I was happy to find that the reception staff could speak English, so there was no need to know Chinese. The service at this hotel is excellent. I got 20 minutes with a massage machine and a bucket of hot water to soak my feet after a long hike — it was so relaxing. The hotel also provides jackets you can borrow if the weather gets too cold. Their response time is very fast whenever I needed something, like recommendations for sunrise and sunset viewpoints or even some medicine. In my opinion, this hotel is truly great — I’m not gonna lie!

The location is excellent, right on the top of the Huangshan summit close to Bright Top Peak. The service was incredible. I booked a the "comfy standard room", and as soon as I got there, they took me around and showed me all the different rooms and asked which one I wanted. I chose the cabin style room and they upgraded me with no upcharge. They actually told me the price for the rooms was the same, regardless of the fact that the trip.com platform listed them as different prices. Just so you know, C-area, which are multi-bed dorms, was not available on trip.com but is available on xiecheng (c-trip, the Chinese version of the app), and is only 300rmb a night versus the 1,200rmb a night I paid for this room. Had I known earlier I would have booked it. Lunch buffet was pretty good though a bit pricey at around 80-90rmb per person, though dinner was outrageous at 160rmb per person, and the food was pretty much the same as lunch. You can get cheaper food at C-area and the quality is about the same. The hotel was extremely generous bringing me snacks, offering free drinks and coffee, giving my friend iodine for his wounds (he was bitten by a monkey on the mountain - no joke, they are fierce here), and even giving me free shoe covers and plastic bags for when it rained. They fully asked for a five star review and even showed me photos of step-by-step what they wanted me to do, but I am more than happy to give a five star review for the level of service. There was even a performance with singing and costumes and dancing in the lobby in the evening, and multiple rounds of free drinks being handed out.
