In the restaurant, it would be desirable if the staff knew even a little Finnish, since we are in Finland. The staff was wonderfully friendly and the restaurant was high-quality. The room was new, clean, small and the ventilation was bad (hot), I had to open the window. Some kind of level for the head of the bed would be good

This is the second hotel for the Wilderness chain of hotels in Inari, taken over a couple of years ago. It's smaller than the other hotel (Wilderness Inari) but it has had a lot of investment particularly in the restaurant and the bar. The restaurant and the food wouldn't be out of place in a city centre and the offerings are of a high standard. Not everything will be to your taste but all the dishes are beautifully created and the service is excellent. The wine choice is limited but we settled on the local Finnish blueberry wine which was robust enough to compliment the reindeer steak in a red wine sauce. Our package had full board and the food is plentiful and delicious. You could describe the hotel as a restaurant with some rooms. The backdrop to the bar and the restaurant is a winter scene overlooking the wide expanse of the river which flows into Lake Inari. It is a beautiful setting. As regards the accommodation the new owners appear to have opted for a makeover rather than refurbishment as there is a limit the changes they might make with the layout they have inherited with it's jumble of rooms and connecting sections. Accomodation is better in the neighbouring Wilderness Hotel but you wouldn't have access to their excellent restaurant. The Wilderness Juutua also scores with its proximity to the centre of Inari and it's (frozen) lake which meant a number of guests were able to walk out on the lake in the evening to see the aurora. If accommodation is one of your criteria go to the other hotel but you'd miss out on the location and the restaurant. The activities available are the same as the other hotels so not worth commenting other than they are 'must do' including the snowmobiles and snowshoeing. Finally the staff are really helpful and cope with an almost full hotel with charm and friendliness over an intense winter season. They really are the stars along with the food.

Saying that this hotel is great is an euphemism. Everything was perfect. The employees are really nice and thoughtful. Although we arrived at 1 am, they greet us with a nice take away plate of smoked fish and some sandwiches. The rooms are nice and peaceful, and the hotel is so beautiful. Everything is well organised, all of your activities will be scheduled by the hotel and printed out for you. And what about the food ! The breakfast is awesome ! One of the best buffet we ever had, considering the quality and the diversity. Plus, it was different from one day to another ! And the 3 course dinner was so good, so well plated and the waiters were so nice and friendly ! It's a place where you feel so good, a peaceful Hotel to rest after a good day enjoying the the activities and the surroundings. I never felt so bad for leaving a place !

We had an absolute wonderful stay at Juutua. The staff is super friendly and they even rescheduled our activity when we accidentally missed it ❤️ the rooms are cozy, the food at Anaar restaurant was outstanding. The Sauna was fantastic after a long day in the cold and has the most wonderful view on the lake. The hotel is close to a little village so it was possible to get in touch with locals. We can’t wait to visit again!!

Perfect winter wonderland!!! We bought the Juutua Frozen Delights package with all activities included and full board. The staff and guides are super nice and will make all efforts to make your stay unforgettable. I was a bit skeptical due to old reviews, but the hotel now belongs to a new owner and it has surely improved all red flags from the past. Excellent food and adventure excursions. We were lucky to see the aurora boreal 4 nights out of 7. The hotel has an alert system (10 euros per day) that buzzes when the northern lights are visible from the hotel. The night trips are also an excellent opportunity to see the lights (Aurora Camp, Aurora Snowmobile tour, Aurora by car). Amazing experience.

We spent 9 wonderful days in the hotel. The very friendly staff, who speak our native language (Russian), were pleasantly surprised by this. Very good service, clean cozy rooms, lovely restaurant with very tasty food. I really liked the active winter vacation with riding dogs, reindeer, snowmobiles, hiking in the winter forest on snowshoes. The feeling of being a guest of Santa Claus, especially during the festive New Year's Eve days. I advise everyone to visit it.

Peaceful hotel by the river, beautiful landscape, nice atmosphere, good quality restaurant (Aanaar has been nominated one of the best restaurants in Finland), very friendly service, cosy lounge, in the main building rooms were pretty basic though the bed was good.

Our stay at Wilderness Hotel Juutua was really quite wonderful. Though we were only on site for about 24 hours, we had the chance to explore the property, go on a terrific snow hike, and dine at the beautiful restaurant Aanaar. The booking process was smooth and straightforward; we secured a Wilderness Suite with an in-room sauna, which proved to be a highlight. Locating the property was easy; it's a short walk from Inari village and close to the local supermarket, pharmacy, etc. but the river and its location just off the main highway still give it a tucked-away feeling. Located in a building a few steps away from the main lodge, our suite was on the second floor with a small balcony that overlooked the new sauna building and the riverside. It was beautiful, clean, and well-kept with a number of really nice touches (e.g. an electric kettle for hot water, a heated warming cabinet for drying wet winter clothing, some lovely textiles). Our rate included dinner at Aanaar which was really delicious, as stated by other reviewers. Breakfast the next morning was also quite comprehensive with lots of offerings, all of which were tasty (waffle-lovers and those who are gluten-free would appreciate the waffle maker and the full station of gluten-free items, complete with a gluten-free toaster!) The staff with whom we interacted were all gracious/helpful and the property was very tastefully appointed with a large bar and seating area, a helpful electronic board with activity times and registrations posted, and festive holiday decor. This was a perfect place to wrap up our active stay in Lapland and I would certainly recommend it for those looking for a traditional (i.e. non-igloo), more elevated hotel stay in Inari.

Cosy hotel on the edge of town. Rooms comfortable and clean but very warm! Top reason to stay here is Aanaar restaurant which serves outstanding quality food with local ingredients. Guided excursions all excellent. We did a couple of snowmobile tours and the snowshoe walk. The evening aurora snowmobile trip out to the wilderness church was the highlight despite the -28⁰ temperature as we were lucky enough to see an amazing aurora display. Top tip...pack plenty of hand and foot warmers for your gloves and boots, but also for whatever pocket you keep your phone in! The iPhone lasted slightly longer than the Samsung, which didn't work at all at that temperature. Also well worth a short walk over the bridge is Siida sámi culture museum. Easy to find under your own steam, loads of interesting info (all with English versions) and great display halls. Small shop inside the Sámi parliament (Duodji) just up from the hotel sells beautiful authentic Sámi craft items, but v expensive!
