The Elgin Kintore Arms, Inverurie - Heritage Hotel since 1855

Inverurie|0.46km from city center
We had an activity superstore voucher to use for a two night stay across various locations in the uk, the kintore arms was one of them. We drove 3/4 hours to stay here and we were highly disappointed with the room standard. Really run down hotel, and the rooms are not only dated and tired, but also not clean. We stayed the one night and checked out the next morning, couldn’t do another night. Toilet seat in the room was broken and not even attached to the toilet, the shower was horrible (dared not shower in it so can’t comment on the pressure), carpets dirty and hair traces all over, dust everywhere especially top of the curtain, cables everywhere and the tv half hanging off the wall we can see the screw wasn’t in the wall. The bed was also rock solid and a tiny double… we never had the breakfast as we just wanted to leave asap. The night we got there we had a pint down in the “bar”, couldn’t even drink it as it was cloudy, tasted off and smelly.. not sure if this was an issue with with pipes… I will say the staff were pleasant and friendly, and when we advised we were leaving they did apologise and say they were closing in 4 weeks time for 3 months to do a refurbishment. Which is good but I don’t think they should be charging anyone to stay in this hotel currently, we looked online and 1 night was £85! I wasn’t too bothered as it was a gifted voucher we used but I would be livid if I paid £85 to stay there. We were charged £50 to have our dogs stay with us but when we left we asked for 50% back as we weren’t staying the 2nd night which the lady on the reception was fine with. Only giving it a 2 star as the staff were nice, and it isn’t their fault. I imagine they get complaints a lot from visitors. I did see the bad reviews for this hotel before we went but normally I find people are a bit fussy and OTT, and for small towns the hotels ate normally dated rooms, but even for me this was not ok to stay in. Felt so uncomfortable in the room and unclean. Window also didn’t close right and hotel is on a main road so very noisy.

The location is very good. The employees were impressed. I think that the interior of the room has a high-class feel while fulfilling its functions. No problem with accommodation.
