Reviews of Islamabad Serena Hotel

This hotel is a long-standing establishment right in the city center. It feels like it has a lot of rooms, and the decor reminds me of the classic, old-money style of a Hyatt Regency, but with a strong Pakistani local flavor and a very grand, palatial vibe. The garden is expansive, and even though it was raining when we visited, strolling through it was incredibly pleasant and relaxing.

Overall one of the best hotel in Pakistan, unfortunately we experienced water supply issue during our stay as there was some maintenance going on so the whole building was without water supply. Other than that 1 night, everything else was amazing.

The hotel is beautiful and everything was great, *except* ❌ the cleaning staff stole money from my room while cleaning, even though I hadn't requested a cleaning. The hotel refused to take responsibility, claiming there was no evidence after checking the CCTV (but how could there be cameras in the room?). They completely protected their staff. This was the worst experience during my trip to Pakistan, and I've never had money stolen while staying anywhere else. I want to warn everyone staying here.

Initially our stay on the first day was good - we were booked for a 3 night stay but on day 2 we were forced to checkout due to government take over, they said we had to arrange alternative accommodation for ourselves and were willing to leave it at that but had to beg them to find us somewhere as i did not know the city - they directed us to a four star property and the rooms were horrible in there and had a bad experience. I cannot believe such a named hotel did what they did and did not provide a like for like hotel or any kind of compensation. I am disgusted with there conduct and behaviour and this has caused me immense stress and anxiety.

Overpriced and overrated. No proper parking available, imagine leaving your car outdoors in extreme weather, or walk at least 200m to your car on extreme days. The first impression of the room was not good. Bedsheets, not proper white but giving and oldish look. Hotel was built some 25 years ago and bathroom has not been upgraded accordingly. Old style and only one fixed shower head in bath area. Two wall mounted paintings hanging in the room were a bit tilted, carpet on the floor also giving an old look. I arrived around 4:00pm and was late for lunch, expected that fruit basket will be available in room upon arrival but nothing was there and i had to call at least three times, had to walk down to the reception as well to receive one. Ordered food online and hotel entrance staff told me that outside food was not allowed, neither i was allowed to sit in open area and eat that food. Eventually, i had to fill a consent form and only then i was allowed to take food to my room. On my day 2, i had a call multiple times to get tea/coffee items in my room. Took at least half an hour to get this mission accomplished. Overall, hotel is not bad but these little details need attention to maintain a good standard.

This hotel is quite different from what you'd typically find in China. For example, tissue boxes are rarely available, and cloth towels are primarily used. The drinking water in the room comes in large, reusable glass bottles, not single-use plastic ones. The soundproofing is a bit poor; there's a connecting door to the adjacent room that can be opened. The shower head is fixed to the ceiling, not a detachable type. The dining options are predominantly South Asian, with almost no Chinese cuisine. Overall, while it might be the best in Islamabad, it probably doesn't quite measure up to a five-star hotel in China. These are the main drawbacks. On the positive side, the environment is indeed beautiful, very safe, and clean. The facilities are also quite comprehensive, and the service is decent.

This is my go-to place every time I'm on a business trip. The location is great and the breakfast is decent. I'd definitely stay here again. Please keep up the good condition!

Great stay

The staff was welcoming and accommodating right from the moment we checked in. The room was clean, and the view of the city from it was splendid.

Overall a great stay, only thing was they didn’t offer any welcome drinks nor anyone showed us to our room,and complimentary fruit basket tooks hours to arrive. Security took some time to clear as well but thats justifiable.

My choice as the best hotel in Islamabad and service never disappoint me. They upgraded to a lovely suite which was unexpected but hugely appreciated
