The Palms Oceanfront Hotel

When I arrived parking was non existent. 15 spots (maybe) under the hotel. If you park there your car is in danger of being hit by another because it’s so tight. You will be charged 15$ a day to park in the municipal parking lots that charge 100$ weekly. The front desk staff aren’t happy to be there and act like they aren’t happy that you are there. The mattress had a dip on both sides. Very uncomfortable. The pool and its lounge area is very small. I tried twice to hang out at the pool but once it was to crowded and second I was told by staff it was to full. My coffee maker didn’t work at all. I bought perishables because I had a mini fridge. The next morning everything was warm. I made sure the door was closed and the second morning everything was ruined. The sliding glass door to the patio was extremely hard to close. I was in room 123. The front desk offered to notify maintenance. I declined as I don’t want to wait for maintenance while I’m on vacation. Hopefully they repaired this rooms problems. There is a direct boardwalk to the ocean but at the end it is a big step down. There is a rail to the left. Obviously coming back from the ocean it is a big step up. Overall for the price, I will pay the little extra to be somewhere else.

Our family traveled with a large group. The hotel was clean and we didn’t really use any of the amenities. The only downside was parking. There are only about 15 parking spaces under the hotel and the only other parking is public parking.

Room was clean. Breakfast was weak. Elevator was broken part of the time and the pool was not great

One of the beds had public hair and body hair, along with small blood spots, all over the sheets. The carpet was full of sand. The room was dirty. There was a pen and trash on the floor. It appeared someone had stayed there and staff just made the beds with the dirty sheets. There was a used tooth flosser on the shelf. The sink wouldn’t drain and had low water pressure. When I went to the lobby office the first night to talk about the sheets being dirty, the clerk didn’t care and told me to go with her to get new sheets. She opened a nasty utility closet that had cleaning supplies and toilet plungers and said to grab some more sheets myself. I grabbed one that was in an open bag and showed her it had dirt and a stain on it. She argued with me over them being dirty and was annoyed. She told me to get different ones. When I got to my room, one of the sheets given to me had a 2 ft long tear in the sheet. The next day I told the front desk I was canceling the other 5 days of my reservation the clerk never asked why I was leaving early, how my stay was, nothing. I asked for an emailed invoice and never got it. The breakfast had two pancake machines that didn’t work. The lobby run in the seating area was caked with sand. The pool was full of bird poop and birds swimming in it. I will make sure this review goes on every site possible. I have never had a worse hotel experience, but I’ve stayed in worse hotels, so that says something. The entire problem with your hotel is staff who don’t care a single bit about customers and are there to collect a paycheck and nothing more.

While the room was mostly clean, the customer service was less than desirable. I asked about the shower not draining 1 hour after checking in and was told that they could not fix it until tomorrow. Then I got in my bed and it was full of sand - a bed that we haven’t even pulled back yet. That’s largely unacceptable. When I went to go notify the front desk, the attendant was sleeping in the lobby - not behind the desk, in the lobby chairs meant for guests. This place is obviously very poorly run and I’m very disappointed we booked here.

How this place gets excellent reviews is beyond me! The ocean and beach, while nice and close to the hotel, is accessed by a boardwalk which is set directly under the hotel garage. Guests cannot sit on their patios without feeling an invasion of privacy as each person walks down the boardwalk. And, the garage area where guests have to access the boardwalk is disgusting. It’s dirty, and wreaks of garbage from the restaurant next door. This place is a motel at best. Bragging of recent renovations, the hotel stairwells are scary; the heating/air wall units are old and extremely loud; the hotel is dirty; housekeeping left dirty linens in our hallway for our entire stay; the room smelled like cat; and the lobby was over sprayed with a strong, unpleasant, scented fragrance. Again, the access to the beach is nice here, but I think this place is overpriced. I’d rather pay more to feel like I’m in cleaner and better accommodations. We won’t be returning. Not even sure we’ll be returning to Isle of Palms…the hotel kinda gave us a bad feel for the whole place.

We had a wonderful time at The Palms Oceanfront Hotel. My husband and I stayed 3 nights to celebrate our anniversary. The room was spacious, the employees were friendly and helpful. Our first night, we called to let the front desk know that the m-wave wasn't working, five minutes later, a maintenance man arrived and replaced the m-wave. The pool looked inviting, but we never got the chance to use it. The restaurants we went to were within walking distance. We parked our car and never moved it until we were ready to go home. We took our bikes and enjoyed riding on the 2 lane roads and looking at the beautiful houses. Peaceful and quiet, we really enjoyed it. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.

Short walk to the beach, super comfy beds, lots of restaurants within a block, it was awesome.

The hotel is clean and the staff friendly. The room A/C units can be a bit loud at night but not too bad. It's not a fancy place but beach access is unbeatable! The other big selling point with this hotel is the central location. You can park your car once and walk to the entire central Isle of Palms area! Can't beat the location. We enjoyed our stay and will make this our go to hotel in IOP.
