Azzap Hotel Galata

Karakoy Istanbul|0.16km from Ashkenazi Synagogue of Istanbul
Just returned from a long weekend in Istanbul with a friend. We really liked the Azzap it's very central and well within walking distance of the usual sights. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean with a lovely reception area which looks both smart and welcoming. Yes the hotel rooms are small - but it's a city hotel, what do you expect!? The beds are extremely comfortable, with lovely pillows and linen, the rooms are well insulated, I know there were people next door to me and I other than their door opening or closing I couldn't hear anything else. I was in the room above my friend and he couldn't hear me walking around. The windows open properly, so you can leave them open when you leave and the housekeeper can close them when she has done the room. I love an aired hotel room! Breakfast is served in the restaurant on the top floor so you get a great view, the choice is small but it's fine and the lady at breakfast is always cheerful and helpful. Ther are couple of things I would like to mention, but this is just for the management to take on board... *the room safes are not bolted in which is pretty pointless, guests might not realise this and leave valuables. We kept ours with us. * I loved the fact that you had to swipe your door key to go to your floor - the lift won't stop unless it is yours, you can't press any other buttons other than your own. Fantastic! * except.... you can walk from one floor to another using the stairs * the carpet on the 6th floor when you get out of the lift to go to the restaurant and bar sees a massive amount of traffic - it looks really grubby All in all, we had a great time, I'd have no hesitation recommending the Azzap.

I have booked at Pera orient hotel because it offers what I want from an hotel during my travels and the feedbacks were in its favor. Just after my booking was done I stumble on a negative review that was posted on trip advisor. I was worried about my choice. But when I went to Istanbul and stayed there, I felt compelled to share my own experience, which was entirely different and absolutely fantastic! I believe it's essential to give credit where credit is due. First of all , if you are seeking a resort , Pera Orient is not a resort and it never claims to be one! My stay at Pera Orient was comfortable and pleasant. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by the friendly and attentive staff, who made their best to help me in every possible way and to answer my queries during my 5-day long stay. Their warm smiles and genuine willingness to assist truly set the tone for my stay. The location of the hotel is ideal. A 6 min walk from the hotel takes you to Taksim square where you can take the Metro or bus to reach your desired destination. And it allowed me to make regular daily walks on istikal street . The street is a little narrow yes, but there are plenty of hotels all around that I have never felt scared or unsafe ( as it was mentioned in the negative review). And I always took the upward direction then turn right towards taksim. I was greeted by a spotless clean room with a tasteful decor. The bed was incredibly comfortable, The housekeeping staff was attentive and meticulous, making sure that my room was impeccably cleaned each day. Coffee and tea were left daily next to the kettle (sometimes with a bottle of water). When I will visit Istanbul again , I will definitely chose Pera Orient to stay in.

Good day. Rest in the hotel three days in May. Room 301. Originally, looking at beautiful photos, fell in love with the hotel and drove with a look forward to a beautiful, bright, bright room. Everything turned out not to be so. The room is old and vacuumed. We were carried out by a manager who went in shoes and began walking around the room without undressing. When I made a comment, he said that in the shoebox of shoes to keep us from walking boss (spoiler: no shoe shoes))). The Internet all over the hotel catches five points (speed higher than homes). The towels that were four, with huge holes, old and washed, were a little bruise. The bed is not new too, the places are hole and with spots, but looks better than the towels. The two single beds are moved together. At night, they drove off and had to slip on their half to not please in the hole. However, a huge plus hotel: very comfortable mattresses and pillows! From the first day they slept like home, and that is certainly important, perhaps even decisive! Breakfast: No Swedish table. Portions: 1 plastic sausage, 2 pieces of cheese, olive, piece of cucumber, piece of tomato, butter, honey, jam, 1 piece of coraga. ( sounds solid, but this picture looks funny, such a plate of food samples))) And bread. From hot will be offered omlet. Very liked the terrace on the roof, where breakfast was served, excellent view, worthy restaurant! Important plus hotel, its location: very close to everything! To the historic center 10 minutes in one direction, to the pedestrian street 5 minutes in the other. Another important factor and undisputed plus hotel are people: staff are very responsive and friendly, Especially I want to highlight a nice smiley woman in the kitchen, with such warmth she prepared us omlet and poured coffee! And a man of the administrator who comes to work on a moped (unfortunately, I didn't remember the name) , very social and fun, always ready to help and tip. So you can see, we have a double impression from the hotel. Four points set only because of staff and location. Otherwise, you can see what saves. Economize on everything that is possible and not possible.

Great location in Galata right below the tower and beautiful winding narrow streets. Very close to the river as well. At check-in the told us they ”upgraded” us with some weird explanation about how uncomfortable one of the two beds was in the room we paid for. They gave us a suite, but there was only one bed and i was travelling with a friend. We didn't want to sleep together. They had a metal wire cot (very small and uncomfortable) sitting next to the real bed. My friend and I decided that even though the suite was bigger, we would both like to have the room we paid for - the Deluxe Twin Room with two real beds. When i told them we would prefer our room with two beds, it came to be, that they had oversold the hotel and there actually was not an option for us to have the room we paid for. They offered us free breakfast for one of the nights. My friend could not sleep on the cot, so she used the couch and said she didn't sleep the entire night. The room is also very dark both in decoration and the amount of light. Also, they scheduled a private boat tour for us which all of the locals said should be around $200 Euro. They showed us a brochure of a beautiful large boat that did sunset tours for small groups for only $50 per person. Included food, tour guides and drinks. But, they told us for private it would be $350. I told her that was much more that what we had been told the cost was. She said we would have wine but we could only choose white or red (not both). Seemed a bit weird since all of the tours seemed to come with so much. The boat we got was much smaller than the photo. There were people on the boat but no one spoke a word to us and we didn't have a guide - no one spoke a word of English. The front desk told me the sun set at 7:45 and we were 7-9 so would get the sunset tour. But, when we got there at 7:00 the sun was already completely down. So, they had the time wrong. The captain didn't say a single word to us, not even hello. And the hotel provided the wine (not the boat). I asked if they had any snacks and he brought out some very wet and soggy nuts. We felt we got ripped off for the boat tour and again were sort of told one thing and got another. The pluses of the hotel are the location and the rooftop dining. It is BEAUTIFUL up there. The food is very good. The staff is generally very nice but they seemed to be in a bit of a situation trying to cover up for the mistakes and not really willing to take credit for the problems. I complained along the way, as I did when i left. And the front desk guy said ”well i hope we can do better next time”. Probably won't be a next time for me. I would definitely stay somewhere else as there are beautiful hotels everywhere and maybe just go there for breakfast or dinner.

I had a very wonderful stay in the hotel. The location is superb around 20mins of walking from taksim square, 15mins from galata port and 10mins from galata bridge. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. There are lots of cafe options that you can go for chill coffee break or nice breakfast (cost for buffet set around TL300).Or you can enjoy coffee and people watching at the hotel cafe. I would definately stay here again! To access to the hotel from Sabiha, you can either take Havaist bus drop off at Taksim Square (TL102.50) and continue to walk downhill for 20mins or you can take metro and stop at Sishane station. Other alternative is take Havaist bus drop off at Karakoy ferry terminal (TL77.00) and proceed with ferry to Kadikoy (TL39.90) estimated 30mins and continue walking for 10mins. Both Havaist option will take about 1hr depending on traffic.

Vita Suites has made us pay a much higher price than that shown on the official page of the hotel, which we had the surprise to discover immediately installed in the room, by connecting to the internet. We complained to the receptionist, and we were opposed with complete disrespect and a categorical refusal to reimburse the differences. In view of the price, we considered the breakfast very low: the lowest quality bread, charcuterie and cheese that we would have had in the worst in the cheapest pension. We are not recommending this hotel that does not reflect the sense of hosting and the art of living in Turkey (the country where we have lived for more than two years). Vita Suites charged us a much higher price than the one showed on the official hotel page, which we were surprised to find as soon as we were installed in our room, by connecting to the internet. We complained to the front desk, and were offered complete contempt and an absolute refusal to reimburse the difference. The hotel was very comfortable and very comfortable. We absolutely do not recommend this hotel, which in no way reflects the sense of Turkish hospitality and the art of living (country where we have lived for more than two years).
