Hari niwas is 19th century fort converted into hotel and when you live there you would be part of history. You feel the vibes of an age old tradition. The location on the bank's of river taqi will make you feel the serenity without losing the touch to city. Prefer river view rooms and you would love a good morning sunrise. The evenings are made great by the live music and the choicest of Jammu crowd in the lawns. Just great.

We stayed in this hotel during our visit to Vaishno Devi. The rooms are big and comfortable with all amenities of a 5star. The housekeeping is also good. Special mention for Rahul at front desk for going out of his way to make us comfortable. Special thank you for Shyam at the coffee shop. Only negative point about this hotel is the location. The views from the room is not great. Its located on a highway junction so don't expect a great view from your windows. One aspect which the hotel needs to improve is the quality of food. The chefs cook without personal touch. There are no restaurants nearby this hotel so we had all our meals at the hotel. In room dining is better than the restaurants but not very good. We ordered traditional local cuisine at the Kashmiri restaurant at the hotel but the food tasted very commercial with no kashmiri touch. It tasted as if we were eating any udipi joint in Bombay. Total let down. Besides the food, everything else about this hotel was good. I would have given 5 stars for this review had it not been for the food and location.

We stayed as a large group at Colonel's Retreat for my cousin's wedding and booked the entire property. The place is beautiful, clean and very well ***aged by the in-house staff available on call. Staff: Excellent staff that is helpful, yet non-intrusive. Added advantage is that the owners live close by and so if you have any issue, they can resolve it immediately. Bhavani ji, one of the owners was so kind and helpful. Place (look and feel): The entryway to the main bungalow has a beautifully decorated garden with artefacts and pot planters of various designs that are also available on sale. We visited during the month of March and spring was in full bloom at the Colonel's Retreat. Most endearing was the balcony sit out surrounded by plants. The place is made tastefully. A good indication of high level of maintenance is always how happy and flourishing the plants in the house look. Not surprising that the owners have their own nursery. The rooms in the bungalow are well located and allow much privacy whether you're staying in a small or large group. Food: Most delicious home-cooked food prepared with fresh ingredients. We stayed for three days and never had any complaints to do with the food. On the contrary ended up feasting over every meal! I've already recommended the place to a number of family and friends travelling to Jammu and would do that to every traveller wanting to book this place!

I stayed in Gupta resorts hotel at Jammu for 12 nights (7-19 December 2018). As a widely traveled person in various parts of the world for last 25 years or so here in this hotel my experience was like a nightmare which I never had elsewhere. Therefore, in short it is highly recommend to never book this hotel even for one night stay. The reasons are ***y.Most importantly, the hotel is highly overpriced and the quality of service is extremely poor. The staffs at the reception are extremely unfriendly and does not know the minimum ***ners to talk to their guests properly. The food is also of very low quality and heavily overpriced. Room service is very poor and does not have the basic amenities like electric kettle in the room, very poor internet connection, frequent power cuts, noisy rooms and in ***y rooms there are problem with door locking system. In spite of all these the hotel claims to be like a star standard hotel but in fact they try to cheat customers in every possible way. For example, I had lost a plastic key card ( very cheap card, and most of the good hotels replace without any penalty to customers) and the hotel not only charged me an exorbitant Rs 500 for the same but moreover they never replaced with another card and every time I had be dependant on the housekeeping staff. The hotel is located in a highway and commuting is also a problem unless you are okay with paying unreasonable amount to auto or cab drivers. Due to all this, I would suggest everyone not to be misled by resorts tag attached with the hotel as this hotel is a most ordinary one and think several times before making reservation here even if the hotel try to lure customers with some discounts.

I have been visiting the Hotel for last 4 Years and spent around 4 Months annually here, and have witnessed it all from old rooms to new renovated one.Transformation at its best.I have not come across any hotel in jammu with such spacious and hygenic rooms.Well as service is the soul of this industry , i have met some great employees over these years.Would like the hotel owner to give a tap on back for below mentioned employees who have not only retained me for years but made me think of never leaving this association. 1) Mr Avtaar Singh 2) Mr Rajkumar (in Govt Job Now) 3) Mr Anil Anil is very young energetic and full of passion. He will surely grow under your guidance.Would urge the higher ***agment to keep these Gems motivated as they as they are assets for you.TRG is like 2nd home to me and i always recommend it to my friends. You can stay here with family with very decent locality and market places around. One of the best hotels in Jammu.
