LYU WUN HOTEL

There's a secret shortcut from the hotel that gets you to the MRT station in just 2-3 minutes. It seems like it's an employee hotel for Taipei Metro, with a Japanese-inspired design. The rooms are spacious, and it's quite affordable, even including breakfast. My only minor gripe is that the room had a slight odor. I booked this hotel for easy access to Tamsui, which is only about a 20-minute ride away.

Pros: The room was very new, the bathroom was large and clean, and it had a bidet toilet. The hostel is right next to the night market, and there are PX Mart and 7-Eleven nearby, which is very convenient. Cons: There was a smell of smoke on the first floor. There was a karaoke bar nearby; you could hear what they were singing. It only got quiet around 11 pm. The air conditioning was too strong when we first entered the room; the temperature was only 18 degrees Celsius. There was no parking available. There was no elevator except for luggage. Breakfast was not provided. The toilet was clogged overnight and couldn't be repaired immediately. The next morning, they opened another empty room for us to use the toilet, and the toilet was repaired then, but it was still inconvenient. The sensor-operated lid and flushing of the bidet toilet took some getting used to; you might flush while using the toilet or be startled by the lid.

The overall environment is very clean and spacious. The Keelung Temple is just downstairs. I highly recommend it.
